Fiziev needs to go down to FW

Gaethje won by having more grid, patience, composure and power. It had zero to do with technique. That man is sloppy lol.

Fisiev is on point but he fades and is too small for the division. He might want to box a bit more because he's wasting tons of energy on kicks and power hooks. He's quick, technical and explosive. But you see everytime Gaethje jabbed he just did more damage. Could also be that Fisiev just doesn't wear damage that well.

He has all the tools but he should pace himself and mix up the rhythm more. Yoi can't go 100% on every strike thrown. Your timing and speed however quick it is. Is going to be predictable. Guys like Anderson Silva did it masterfully and made you think. But even guys like Nick Diaz did it well. Tappers and then bang a hard one.

Fiziez did not lose because of his size.
Gaycheese adapted and found a way to win while Fiziez stayed stagnant and did not build upon what he was doing.

He needs to shed some muscle and increase his cardio. He also needs to stop throwing every shot with bad intentions. 145 wouldn't be a bad idea, especially considering his height and reach. UFC lists him as 5'8, but he's probably more like 5'7 at most.

He performed well against Gaethje, but only for the first ~2 rounds. Then he considerably slowed down.

Fighters have two options on sherdog after a loss
1. drop a weight class
2. go to Bellator

lmao
Hey, after dropping a very competitive decision to the #3 guy, a fighter has to face the facts that he was never any good. - sherdog

Yeah was surprised how small he looked. The fact that RDA didnt look much bigger shows that RDA had no business at 170. Fizzy could have lots of success at 145, he’s going to struggle against the big boys at 155
It’s a bummer that these guys have to do near death weight cuts to be competitive. That’s got to be so unhealthy.

He is a bit small. He is roughly same height as Yan.

I agree Justin looked significantly biger. Fiziev should do a bigger weight cut or get down to 145.

His biggest problem in this fight was typically for Muay Thai - close range boxing. If he can't put trade Justin at least stay on the outside. Muay Thai guys traditionally are more kickers and diverse striker. Justin beat him with pure simple boxing in close quarters in that third round.

This was not a muay thai problem. Theres a reason why in round 1 and 2 he was fine, its because he gassed.

Fiziev was doing well and surprised more people aren't saying he won the fight. Round 2 is sort of a toss up, where you could score for either guy. They each won a round. Gaethje hits like a truck and was finally able to establish his jab later on. Fiziev just needed better adjustments.

So Fiziev who was noticeably physically stronger than Gaethje and won every single tie up, it was quite literally the only range at which he got off meaningful damage, should dramatically alter his body composition so he can fight guys two inches shorter on average?

I must be missing something because I don't see how this would benefit Fiziev.
So his leg kicks and body kicks weren't meaningful??

I wholeheartedly agree, TS. I was saying the same thing yesterday before the fight. He has always seemed undersized to me.

Edit: Just to be clear for those who don't have fully functioning eyeballs, this wasn't a response to him losing. Nor is it because he is on the shorter side. He doesn't have a wide-frame on top of being short.

Fiziev is a small lightweight. He has a featherweight frame.

Gaethje is not a big lightweight by any stretch but mark my words, Fiziev is going to look small in there.

He already has cardio issues at LW, at FW he would probably last 1 round.

Agreed with ts, Fiziev looked too short there. Could definitely make 145. 90’s beauty ftw, btw.

Hard to say. He does seem like a bit of an inflated FW at LW. But at the same time will dropping an extra 10 lbs help his already kind of middling cardio. And will he be as explosive with a bit less muscle mass? Because he seems to rely on that explosive speed to find small windows of opportunity to land big/clean.

I think some of you guys bought this whole MT master thing. People didn't account for Fiziev's inability to check that kick. Fizzy didn't gas out. You can check the stats for the fight. He had the same output in round 1 vs round 3. If anything Fizzy actually threw more strikes in the 3rd vs the 1st/2nd rounds according to the stats. He still had energy to jump on the cage after the fight. Fizzy just got punched in the face. Justin didn't start finding success with the jab until 2:41 of the 3rd round.

He clearly has the talent to fight at 155. He just needs to fight smarter. He's so fast but he needs to pick shots better. He fights like a violent KO artist, but he doesnt have the power to blow guys out of there...so he has to be alot more patient and conserve his energy. He,like Gaethje is too aggressive. His speed and reflexes is incredible though,no doubt.

It must be hard for him to not fight like that. Because he has starched guys like Moicano,RDA, and Russell. But Riddell was a wheel kick which will hurt anyone if it lands and Moicano and RDA were from his blisteringly fast left hook. Which is a beautiful strike but he knocks them down from speed and them not seeing it coming more so than having thudding power, if that makes sense.

And OP, Fiziev is shredded and muscular. Dropping wouldn't help him. He's right where he belongs. Despite losing, he still looked good last night.
