I bought Fairtex shorts online quite some time ago and haven't used them till now. Initially the sizing seemed fine, but only during a class I realized they were way too loose around the waist. As my t-shirt and body become sweaty, the shorts immediately start dropping down and obstructing my leg movement. Needless to say, this is incredibly annoying.

I have two ideas how to (try to) fix them:

1) I was thinking of cutting the tightening rope in half so that I can tie it into a knot. Not sure if this knot would hold or if the bump would be uncomfortable?

2) Pinching the waist on the back side and sewing it in like that.

Any thoughts?

I'm not trying to sound cheeky OP, but they will slip unless you tie a knot in the rope.
Do as ironwolf says and tie a knot in the rope; you don't need to cut it first.
