Fish oil in the fridge

I've been storing my capsules in the fridge based on the recommendations from others on the forum and have noticed my capsules are becoming cloudy. Just wondering if this is normal. I'm assuming like any other lipid it's normal for fish oil to become cloudy at lower temperatures?

Yeah mine became cloudy as well so I stopped putting them in the fridge, also surprisingly the container smells more after it's been refrigerated
 
Yeah, that's also mentioned in the fish oil thread. It's normal.
 
Some fish oils become cloudy when cold because they contain monounsaturated and saturated fatty acids---which are naturally occurring in whole fish. I've seen this in every single bottled liquid fish oil I've used.

Depending on how highly processed your fish oil is, this may or may not occur. If one is concerned, the "Sonny" test is required---bite into a capsule.
 
I assumed it was because they solidified a bit. I've kept them in the freezer and they were cloudy, then take them out and at room temp they're clear again.
 
does anyone have any idea if freezing the fish oil reduces its efficacy?

I just feel like I got more out of it (i.e. more perceivable benefits such as better sleep, less soreness, etc) before I started freezing it.

It shouldnt make a difference but it doesnt hurt to ask.
 
Cool, thanks. Theres a reply from poliquin in there too (obviously you know that haha) which says there should be no negative effects. Maybe I'll do a control experiment - I'll buy a new bottle next time at Costco and wont freeze it and see if I notice a difference.
