I think this was the first head kick knockout in the history of UFC, correct me if I am wrong. Pete Williams vs Mark "The Hammer" Coleman - UFC 17 It was such an epic knockout, but Coleman looked pretty much gassed and his hands were down.
I came here to say this, but to be fair considering the guy was grounded it could almost be considered a soccer kick. Had the man been standing that would've hit his thigh lol.
Williams calmly let Juiced Coleman gas himself out and then destroyed him. Shocking when it happened. MMA evolved that night.
I had this saved on my dad's computer as a gif. He was fucking pissed. He yelled at me and was extremely upset with the violence. RIP Bubba.
I was gonna make some shitty post about showing us something we have all seen 1000 times. Oh look at that I actually did that. Oh well fuck it.
Mark Coleman gets knocked out by Pete Williams, thus ending the reign of the fathead, roided, no cardio man blanket heavyweight wrestler. Now the reign of the “sort of well rounded, sort of skilled, not really that good but at least doesn’t gas in 10 seconds” heavyweight fighter begins. Pete then gets submitted by Frank Mir, thus ending the reign of said fighter type and gives birth to the specialist BJJ artist at heavyweight that can deal with all sorts of fighters and submit them anyway. Then gets beat the shit out of him by Brock Lesnar, essentially a fatter, bigger, dumber, stronger version of Mark Coleman. Oh MMA.
“Two more of Tuli's teeth were still lodged in Gordeau's foot after the fight ended. Doctors avoided removing them until the end of the event because the resulting blood loss likely would removed him from the tournament.” https://www.google.com/amp/s/roughcopy.com/amp/latest/ufc-1-review Gerard(who weighed 245 lbs.) went on to be infamous for blinding, what would be considered a small Flyweight by today’s standards(135 lbs.).
Gordeau is the first for sure, but the Pete Williams KO of Coleman is one of my all time favorites. Coleman was the man in the UFC at the time of this KO. Classic!
Your not really familiar with Coleman, if you think he's a blanket. Go back and watch the Don Frye fight.
