Last night, I finally got back into the gym after a 3 years hiatus (keep in mind I had only trained for about 6 months before said hiatus, so skillset was limited anyway)...It felt good to be back. I did some drilling with a purple before class, and then during live rolls, I rolled with two purples who did a great job of not trying to just squash my white belt self, but rather to go slowly and work technique and give me tips as we rolled. It was really appreciated. I also rolled with a blue that was a bit more relentless, but rolling with him helped me realize some stupid mistakes I was making, including giving my neck a bit too easily. The lesson was learned after a rather vicious guillotine that has left the old throat a little sore today. I have missed that feeling. All in all, it was great to be back, and I was appreciative of all of the assistance and support from the guys at the gym.
