Regarding eye pokes, does anyone know if fighters are required to trim their fingernails or file them down before a fight?

I've even seen them have their nails clipped at the cage <45>

I noticed Tabatha Ricci had them painted a lovely shade of pink.

Didn't look very long, though.

I believe Mike Perry had a funny interaction with the referee pre-fight where the ref told him his nails were too long and Mike started trying to bite his nails off until an official came with clippers

they could still grasp arms and legs, etc
but single fingers wouldn't be there for pokes
when you watch how some fighters push to the face
with their fingers spread, it's ridiculous IMO

It blows my mind that in ONE they'll do like 13 Muay Thai fights on a card and have zero eyepokes, while constantly at close range and pawing at each other's faces.

Meanwhile, these UFC fighter's spend most of the fight barely engaging and somehow spend more time fouling each other than actually fighting.

right right, I get it.
but there should be some strategy.
tape fingers together? I don't know.
that HW fight no doubt would have been forgettable but
there have been other high profile fights we can all remember
marred by careless eye pokes.
