Film & TV's Most Heartbreaking Deaths

Got me welling up over here

Sauron's death.
He was the one and only proponent of progress and enlightenment in Middle Earth.
He made long term efforts on industrialization, generated a massive amount of jobs, and was a staunch enemy of racial discrimination (unlikes elves, dwarves, etc).
He valiantly faced a coalition of retrograd and racist monarchies who used subterfuge, spying, necromancy and eagles on steroids to destroy any and all oportunity of a better future for Middle Earth.
Alas, he was finally brought down by these evil-doers by the non-ethical use of a weapon of mass destruction, which also slaughtered hundreds of thousands of innocent orc and troll families.

Steel beams and rock columns don't melt like that just because.

Yeah I think that made it work but I think that was accidental on their part. I think they thought the prophecy bromance for a couple of episodes made him the perfect choice. Too many times in the rest of the show you knew key characters had too much plot armour to die in this scene.

Desmond was far and away one of the more lovable characters on the show so it didn't disappoint me that they wrote him onto one of the most iconic death scenes of the show.

Ironic, considering how he was introduced as batshit crazy. Lmao. ALSO in one of the most iconic season openers ever!!!! The Hatch!

Yeah I can't believe the uproar about it not being jack's dad who was in a handful of episodes. I mean of all the things to complain about that they did badly.

you can't have a thread about heartbreaking deaths and not mention Marley.

"Charlie" from lost was pretty intense but it was hugo dealing with it that was the most sad.

James Caan's still making grown men cry 40 years later.

Sucked just because of the lead up to it and how the viewer knows exactly what's going on but the characters don't.

This one, from the same show shocked me because I figured the character would be around longer:

The song in the second one every time I hear it all I can think of is that scene.

The Red Wedding GOT AND that guy in saving private Ryan that got stabbed in the heart.

Not a death, but when Rose gets separated from the Doctor forever.

Another scene is this one from Carnivalé. My second favorite show of all time

I was devastated when Adriana was whacked. The drive in the car was so desolate and intense at the same time. I blame Christopher's stupidity for her death. RIP.

I'll make a poll if there's enough nominations.

Discuss.

She should have just gone straight to cops.
