Fights where the winner thought he lost

I just watched round 1 on fight pass. I challenge you to do the same. Hendricks almost doubled GSP in significant strikes, both landed a takedown (without any follow up damage), lots of clinching where Hendricks landed the better and harder strikes. I watched the fight once and it felt like a Hendricks win at the time. Now, I would gladly say I was wrong, but rewatching it doesn't change my opinion.
They had the same number of strikes and take downs, but GSP had a submission attempt. I've watched the fight 3 times. I initially scored round 1 for Hendricks, and subsequent viewings gave to GSP.

Pettis was pretty honest in saying he wasn't sure he beat Cowboy last year.

Meh, some guys are try hard nice guys.
I'm not saying it's wrong, but goddamn some people take it to extrme.
Wonderboy asking neal "you okay man? alright lets go"
Benson literally helped his opponent get up between rounds.
I'm sorry, but stuff like that is an insult to the other guy.

EDIT: Hmm, yooo maybe they are doing this on purpose. "haha im being nice to you and still kicked your ass".

Pet peeve of mine too.

I hate it... HATE IT, when guys raise the losing fighter’s hand or even worse, lift them up, after kicking that guy’s ass.

wreaks of insincerity and bullshit macho fakery. Such a underhanded insult if you ask me. Can’t stand that shit.

almost 100% of the time it is Brazilians doing it to. Must be some weird cultural shit.

Anderson vs Brunson

Anderson vs Nick Diaz too, I mean he felt so relieved he cried on the floor

.... Ofcourse he needed roids to beat someone as untouchable as Nick Diaz so even that win didn't count.
Are you talking about the Nick Diaz who has close to a .500 ufc record?

I always felt this stoppage was premature, and this gif confirms that it was stopped after GSP missed one of the 4 knees he threw. Kinda funny that his last conventional finish at 170 came from missing a knee to the ribs of a downed opponent.

Serra quit. He is down on all fours with GSP landing multiple knees, and Serra is making no attempt to get up. He was done.. Some refs might have let it go longer, which is fine by me. But Serra didn't want anymore..

Smh. Leave it to Sherdog to twist a "winner who thought they lost" topic into yet another GOAT vs GOAT argument thread

Who's the guy that was going to take a loss, then got found out.... ended up winning and going to jail anyway?

Agreed, let me tell ya.
I was for years a teacher, like actual one in ministry of education.
The medals of participation levels have risen harder than ever. everyone gets them now.
Pop quizzes are now illegal in most western countries, even in university level.
One of the schools I worked at was fancy pants international rich jewish school, and the principle literally gave us mandetory hours to talk with each kid.. just talk, individually. and there were mandatory hours to talk with 5 at a time from different classes. Teacher literally had to be involved enough to find friends for other kids, and summarize their social life and sensitivities on paper. We're talking junior high, principle retired after 2 years. Nobody wanted all that excessive work for the same damn pay...

lmao what an obsessed, pathetic loser.

Toner still crying himself to sleep at night because GSP is the GOAT, poor kid.

edit: LOL you got absolutely fucked in this thread as usual

That’s sucks.

I worked in a school for “wards of the state” (kids with no legal guardians: crack babies, orphans etc) back around 2002 or so.

We literally were trained to use jiu jitsu to restrain these kids, basically wrap their arms up, take their back and put them in a “straight jacket” hold, with hooks in.

That shit would never fly today. And I bet more people get hurt because of it. Those little fuckers (age 5-14) were VIOLENT.

I bet the school is closed and those same type kids are pumped full of drugs today.

Some problems can’t be fixed with smiley face stickers.

Same amount of strikes? That doesn't seem right. After about 4 minutes, GSP had 11 significant strikes, Hendricks had 21. I guess I should have said Significant Strikes, since I find those the most important ones. I just watched it again, but what makes you give rnd 1 to GSP? To be clear, I am totally unbiased, I did not really care who won. I also can't get angry over GSP winning, but I just can't see round 1 going to George.

Still wasn't stopped until GSP missed a shot. Whenever I see a fight stopped after a missed or non damaging strike, I tend to refer to it as a bad or early stoppage. It's also very rare to see a fight stopped due to body strikes, although it can definitely be warranted in some circumstances.

Because round 1 was even, with GSP edging it out with a legit submission attempt. What constitutes a "significant" strike is arbitrary.

Where did GSP almost submitted Hendricks? And significant strikes give a better perspective than total strikes, but maybe that's a matter of opinion. I don't mean to prove you wrong btw, I just find it interesting how people see things different :)
