Fights the ufc has failed to deliver

They cant force GSP to fight if he didnt want to. They had no cause to fuck with him on that. You had two big stars doing very well for the company. One of them didnt want it,but how could they really punish GSP for it? I think when GSP tried to get the testing for the Hendricks fight, they def got fed up with GSP,which shows the horrible treatment he recieved after the fight was over, but i dont think that is tied with the Silva situation.
Should have offered a huge payday for gsp to take the risk of going up. Imo their cheapness prevented that fight.

It's possible. But that fight was worth whatever gsp asked. Ufc has to know that.

Doesn't seem like they ever offered that huge payday tho.

I agree, but also disagree. Some people swear that Silva vs GSP not happening was the UFC's fault. I disagree with that, as it seemed GSP just didn't want the fight, but I do feel the UFC brass could've forced it at some point. It's not their fault, but they didn't make it happen. I think that's the premise of the thread, but I could be wrong.

there was a lot of shit that happened in making that fight that was. The fault of Ufc and also Anderson too.

evveryone making out like gsp straight ducked it the whole time is wrong

1st, GsP was still concentrating on beating all Hughes. Records at 170, and told Anderson if her wanted to fight him so badly to come challenge him for the 170 belt.
Anderson’s camp was crikets on that one

Then Dana finally talks gsp into fighting Anderson for the 185 belt. After the Maia fight.

Flies Gsp to Abu Dhabi to challenge Anderson.

Anderson stares at Maia for 5 rounds and Dana takes the fight off the table.

Tells gsp not to go challenge him and call him out he doesn’t deserve it

I mean, that's one way to rewrite history, sure.

Arlovski vs Crocop
Crocop vs Randy
Brock vs Big Nog
Werdum vs Big Nov 2
Wand vs Vitor 2
Luke vs Chris 2
Luke vs Silva
Jacare vs Luke 2
Rumble vs Jones
TRTor vs Pre USADA chris
Hendo vs Chuck
Barao vs Cruz

That’s not rewriting history.

those are all factually correct statements about how some of it went down

There are some factual statements, sure, but it's a very biased and dishonest assessment of the situation that leaves out very important details, exaggerates some, and downplays others. We don't really have to get into it, but we both know that's not an honest and realistic iteration of the way shit went down.

Thats a damn good list, though they did make Werdum/nog 2

I do remember some aspects of this being feasible though. The Abu Dhabi thing put Anderson in serious hot water with Dana. That was supposed to be a big coming out party for them in Abu Dhabi and Anderson shat all over it. One could at least argue that there was no way Dana wanted to put Anderson in a big superfight like that, only to have this "non-fight" happen instead.

Yeah, there was a few factual statements in there. I replied to him after he responded to me and elaborated a bit.

The champ-champ thing also didn’t really exist back then aside from Penn getting shot at GSP’s belt. I think we could have seen GSP move up to fight Anderson, and Aldo move up to LW if they allowed them to keep their belts at the lower weight class

It sucks that those dominant champions with 4+ defenses weren’t allowed chances to fight up without giving up their belt. Nowadays if you win the belt you’re already in talks of moving up for double champ status or maybe after a defense or 2.

Lesnar vs Fedor, but I blame M1 for that shit show. Also GSP/Silva, but blame GSP for being too smart.

"Never. GSP didn't want that fight."

The pink goof says whatever he feels like attt. Times.

I said that Dana had. Finally talked George. Into challenging Silva , and Silva blew it with Maia.

Like I mentioned when it started gsp was trying to break all hughes reeecords.

when he was finally done, and ready to go get the MW belt, Anderson had fallen off.
