Fights that didn't live up to expectations

I was just rewatching Shields vs Maia and thinking how while it wasn't exactly the most fun, it was exactly what was expected of it. What are some fights that just didn't provide what they should have?

For example, when Mir vs Barnett was announced I was stoked at the idea of seeing a genuinely interesting, quality heavyweight grappling match, and we all know how that went.

Any more for any more?
 
Rampage vs Evans. Shit was so mediocre after all that shit talking and build up.
 
Jones vs DC. Expected a lot more but end up being a boring grapplefuck by Jones, especially in later rounds.

Aldo vs KZ.

GSP vs Nick Diaz
 
Rampage vs Rashad, Dillashaw vs Barao, GSP vs Shields, Lesnar vs Cain, Andeson vs Griffin, Condit vs Diaz, & Aldo vs McGregor.
 
Amanda Nunes vs. Valentina Shevchenko, was pumped when that fight was first announced.

This is exactly what I came to post.

In fact, most "grudge matches" where the fighters hate each other ending being turds. The pressure often seems like it's too much and the fighters fight not to lose, instead of taking risks trying to win. The best fights are almost always the ones where the fighters have mutual respect (Rory v Lawler 2, Hendo v Rua, Pettis v Bendo 1 etc).

The other fight that immediately sprang to mind is Diaz v Condit. We all looking forward to a crazy war, then Condit has to be all smart about it and fight strategically... And unlike many others, I don't blame him for doing so, but I do hope they rematch at some point with less on the line, so Condit will feel free to engage Diaz in his usual, aggressive manner.
 
I guess it depends on each individual but for me Cain vs JDS UFC on Fox 1.

Same with Aldo vs McGregor.

Not sure what I expected, but not that.
 
Most uriah hall fights.

God he pisses me off. We all know hes capeable but fuck man.
 
Maldonado Vs Beltran - Expected a crazy war, instead we got a very slow paced clinch fest

Aaron Simpson Vs Mike Pierce - Expected a boring wrestling match, instead we got a back n forth stand up war that resulted in a nice finish for Pierce.

Clay Guida Vs Gray Maynard - Most of us expected Clay Guida to fight.

Kimbo Slice Vs Houston Alexander - I never thought this was going to be a good fight, but it seemed like it would at least be a quick finish regardless of who won. Instead they circled each other for 13 minutes and Kimbo got one slam.

BJ Penn Vs Frankie Edgar - I don't remember anyone really thinking Edgar was gonna be able to do much, but damn he looked good in that fight.

Jon Jones Vs Alexander Gustaffson - Almost no one expected Gustaffson was gonna do well against Jones, and NO ONE expected he was gonna take Jones down. Awesome fight.

Ronda Rousey vs Holly Holm - People can say what they want now but before the fight just about everyone was talking about how Holm was gonna get smoked. Instead she dominated Rousey on the feet, fought off an Arm bar position, and even took Rousey down.

This.... Should have been epic but turned out to be shit! Felt stupid for wasting money on that rat, maggot shit hug fest. :mad::mad:
