Fights Between Two Criminals or Certifiably Crazy Guys

I only know of the fights where both guys are currently involved in custody battles.

Youre my boy, Anik!

Alexander Emelianenko vs. Datsik (technically a boxing match but close enough...both served time in Russian prisons)
They also had a weird rematch under boxing rules like less than a month after that first big boxing bout at the CSKA Arena in Moscow =>

(in the rematch Aleks lost again, but it was much closer than that complete blow-out of a huge boxing match that came after a decade of vicious trashtalking), it was supposed to count as official but it took place in a small ring, still for the promotion "Hardcore Boxing" (that also held their official bout in a big ring with a big crowd and all), where other bouts happened that counted as official on his record, so I don't really know what to think of it.

Even boxrec, wikipedia and tapology doesn't show that bout on their record, and the full fight has been scrubbed from youtube, I could only find this highlight that only shows Datsik' 2 knock downs against the younger Emelianenko:

Those crazy Russians, weird to remember that for a couple years, Aleks vs Crocop 2 was one of the most demanded rematches on Sherdog, and the Datsik/Aleks feud, fulled with accusations of Hepatitis C contamination and being a prison rooster, frequently gave us chuckles in the Worldwide MMA section.

I never imagined Datsik would come out of this bitter feud at the winner of both their fights and the peoples' winner, still being an underground icon in Russia's combat sport community while Aleks is now hated by everyone.

And that blonde reporter who interviewed him after he KO'd Andrei Arlovski in their legendary clash, and Datsik replied her question with a scream to her face? Datsik ended up marrying her and they had 2 kids together... like that one sherdogger used to say, we're all NPCs in Red Tarzan's world

Good find and interesting stuff! It's strange there's no record of that fight. It reminds me of Royce's corner throwing in the towel against Harold Howard (after Royce's tough fight with Kimo) and no online source calls that a loss--through it clearly is. That probably has something to do with Royce's family being involved in the original UFC, though.

How the fuck are you gonna shake hands after a fight with eye gouging and ear biting?

Nah man

We ain't friends.
That KOTS is some wild shit.

It does have a certain appeal that is in stark contrast to the clean look and sport rules UFC has now

The bolded is actually true? seriously?

If so that's kind of inspiring.

I agree. I like KOTS. I watch their events. But, as far as I am concerned those are fights to the death. To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if KOTS fighters have died, but they just havn't aired those fights on the internet.

There seems to be a few different cultures of fighters in KOTS. For starters there is a large neo-nazi contingent that seems hellbent on "fighting with honor". And, even separate from them, a good portion of the fighters do make "gentlemens agreements" with each other before fighting to "have clean fights", basically like modern mma rules but with higher stakes due to the concrete surface.

On the other hand, there is also a large contingent that are basically animals and will fight like animals. That is, anything goes.

Both sides of KOTS have a lot to offer for anybody interested in real hand to hand fighting without the illusion of "safety" or "sport"

Bj Penn vs Diego Sanchez
Bj hadn’t slipped fully into mental illness ( sadly) but he was always pretty wild trying to fight people that were way bigger than him , and Diego was always a few bricks shy of a full load
Diego even hung around Dan Quinn and got into his "stevia therapy" at one point.

This shit is fucked up, def not for everyone. I didnt think itd be for me either, but it is.

Not to say I dont feel some kind of way about some of the content.

But it's hard to look away when it's presented in this fashion.

Alexander Emelianenko vs. Datsik (technically a boxing match but close enough...both served time in Russian prisons)

Bobby Hoffman (prison time for beating his wife and generally crazy) vs. Aaron Brink (porn star whose son shot up a nightclub)

Aaron Brink vs. Dan Quinn (look up Quinn's Youtube videos if you must)

Almost ... Phil Baroni vs. Lee Murray (both in foreign prisons. Fight scheduled for Cage Rage but Murray had to pull out due to being stabbed at a party and almost dying).

I'm sure there are others. Travis Fulton must have fought another criminal or two in his 320 fights.

An honorable mention is the guy in my AV (Jon Hess) vs. Andy Anderson. I don't know if Hess got into trouble outside the cage, but he still holds the record fine in the UFC ($20,000) for eye gouging/ranking. His opponent Andy Anderson is serving time for drugs/money laundering which happened after they fought. Some say Andy was innocent.

I once did a thread on all the guys Arlovski fought who were crazy (Brett Rogers, Datsik, Aaron Brink, Roman Zentsov, etc.) or had tragic deaths (Rumble, Justin Eliers). Maybe we can add Youtube influencers to that list.
Oh yeah

Phil Baroni vs Amar Suloev

Jeremy Stephens vs Melvin Guillard

Lavar Johnson vs Ryan Martinez

Derrick Lewis vs Ryan Martinez

Tim Means vs Mike Perry

Jorge Masvidal vs Darren Till

Rob Emerson vs Charles Bennett

Lyle Beerbohm vs Gerald Strebendt

Mike Whitehead vs Travis Fulton

Kimo vs Pat Smith

Tank Abbott vs Kimbo

there is most definitely way more. i mean, combat sports is pretty much filled with crazy people, criminals, crazy criminals, criminal crazies and any other kind of mixture of those things you can think of.
There were a lot potential early UFC fights that could've pitted two criminals/crazies. Any combination of Joe Son, Pat Smith, Harold Howard, permanent eye damagers Gordeau and Jon Hess, etc.

Unless you were one of the few guys who were confident you had the skills to beat 90%+ of other fighters (pretty much just Royce and Ken Shamrock), you almost had to be crazy to enter the tournament.

Anderson didn't shake Jon Hess' hands after their fight. He just rubbed his eyes and there's no question he had an eye injury (unlike some guys later who may or may not have milked "eye poke" injuries).

To be a little fair to Hess, all the early UFC marketing and broadcasts said "No rules!!!" However, the fighters were apparently told backstage about a few rules such as no eye pokes/gouging. I'd never poke/rake someone's eye for sport (only in true self defense), but I wonder if the early fighters were clearly told about rules and fines before their fights in the first few UFCs.

I go back and forth on "unwritten rules" ... in many cases I find them dumb. ... mostly pertaining to baseball.

And yet I observe the world around us and wonder if we are hurdling towards the day I find myself at a dinner party with a note saying "please don't stick your dick in the mashed potatoes."

A fight is a fight. Rules or not, if someone stuck their fingers in my eye socket or my butthole, from that moment on, friendship is off the table.

As a supporter of soccer kicks, knees and stomps...
Those eye gouge fight orgs make me feel like someone with a foot fettish when the butthole pics guy shows up.

Yeah, it's pretty bad when the UFC enforced eye gouges with fines in the "No rules!" gladiator days but a current org doesn't. I can't support or watch stuff like that.

Either PrideFC gloves or the Trevor Whitman gloves... both seem like they would at a minimum be worth a shot.

And yet neither option seems to even have been investigated.

How hard would it be to try out some different gloves on contender series or in any of the handful of regional orgs that have been airing on fight pass?

As far as I can tell they are aware and yet even when faced with major backlash they have firmly planted their flag on choosing not to even attempt to solve the problem.
