Anderson vs bisping was a fight I have wanted to see forever. So last month I ordered fightpass to watch the London event. The event streamed fine and there were no delays. Overall watching a fightpass event was good to go. No delays and the picture quality was fine.
Once that was over I decided to explore the content I was paying for. This is where fightpass is terrible. I'm paying for the content, yet I have no access to it. What I mean is, I have UFC.tv linked into my smartv and my Roku. Holy shit is it terrible. It's constantly loading, & sometimes doesn't play at all. There is nothing wrong with my connections because YouTube, Netflix, etc. work fine. I contacted tech support and that was that
So I wrote to them, and figured no worries. I got a discount for 196, so I said wtf, I'll use that to order the fight. The stream started choppy, but after about a minute, it was fine. So again live viewing was fine. Plus for a day or two afterwards, their content streamed fine. I was actually thinking that their problems were fixed. But then shit got worse.
The delays and constant loading messages came back. It even extended to our desktop computer. I sent several messages to the UFC tech support. I kept getting the same messages. The questions were always the same. What are you using, check your connection, erase this, etc. Finally I told them to fuck off. The problem is on their end.
After one month, I have decided that fightpass is not worth it. Sure it's only $10, but I have to cancel out of principle. They refused to acknowledge that the technical problems are on their end. I had limited access to their content. For example, I have attempted to watch the entire 2005 mw Grand Prix for awhile now. It just isn't going to happen. If you're on the fence, pass. Trust me. Their support staff is shit. I told them several times what the errors were and kept my compaint# in the subject, yet I kept getting the same stupid responses.
So my resolution is simple. I will not pay for anything UFC related again. It's back to the el cheapo route. I won't miss events, but fuck them, I'm not paying for shit. I don't want to be that guy, but fuck the UFC. They are making hundreds of millions of dollars per year. They can splurge and get a few decent IT guys. The bonus is I got a deal for $8/month for HBO for the remainder of my contract. So I have hbo just in time for game of thrones. And guess what, titties and sword fighting wins everytime.
