Fighters who made you think they were untouchable

Machida never got touched. I thought he would be the champ for a loooooong time.

Jon Jones
Cain Velasquez

No fighter is really untouchable, but I had that thought during Andy's reign before the first Sonnen fight, fighters were scared to fight Andy, especially Okami, before Sonnen 1, Andy destroyed everyone in his title reign, Sonnen hit him more than any other UFC fighter who fought Andy combined in their first fight

1. Khabib
2. MM
3. Bones
4. Anderson
5. Fedor

HM - GSP n Aldo

In order

Aldo in WEC and the first part of his UFC run. Aldo was amazing in that time and he was lightning fast, his reflexes were incredible and he seemed unbeatable.

Its a shame there are so many new Covid lockdown fans now who only seen some of Aldo's UFC later fights and think he is an ok fighter. I've seen a lot of GOAT FW lists on here and all I see is Volk and Holloway. Aldo was amazing in his prime and he was the king of WEC

Okami fought Silva after Sonnen I, unless you refer to the first Okami vs Silva fight, back in 2006 in Rumble on the Rovk

Wonderboy imo looked untouchable. He made easy work of Hendricks stuffing his takedowns and knocking him out in the 1st round. He outstruck Rory for 5 rounds. I thought he would do the same thing to Woodley that Rory did, but i'm more dominant fashion. His tdd looked rock solid and striking seemed like a nightmare to deal with.

Conor would’ve sparked Frankie and Cub. The TKZ bout is unknowable just from his long layoff during Conor’s run but I agree it would’ve been a serious challenge. Chad was conditioned and training like he usually does, seeing as that he flatlined Ricardo Lamas only a few months prior. He was never a guy to sit on the couch between bouts. I don’t believe Conor was unbeatable especially at lightweight and welterweight, but at featherweight he was as close to unbeatable as you can get.
At lightweight lmao. Alvarez was a terrible champion and great stylistic matchup for Conor. His only lw wins are Alvarez, Diaz, washed Cowboy (2 od those were at we but they were LW who didn't cut as much at that point)

You really think he would gas in 1,5 round after going to 5 round war with Aldo lmao

You know this impression you have when you witness a flawless performance, where the fighter is in the zone, completely relaxed. You can't imagine him lose because he exudes confidence. Everything he does is measured, flawessely executed. Or maybe that's the impression you have.

I have to think of Conor UFC run until Aldo. Or Anderson's fights like the Leben, Griffin, Belfort ones.
Machida also looked like he was three steps ahead against Thiago Silva or Evans.

Which ones you think of sherbros ?
Thats the invincibility aura we mention here from time to time. Its different from a simple 'great run', which many had. The main difference is how long is lasted.

Fedor, Anderson, Aldo, Jones, MM, GSP, Nunes. Those come to mind.

There are so many notable runs, tho, but not worth of being called invincibility aura IMHO, such as Khabib (quit too soon), JDS, Machida, Weidman and a few others I forgot.

I dont think we have any active fighter with this aura. I havent forgot Islam, but he has 1 top5 LW win, so no. He needs a few years reigning @ LW to be mentioned.

I was just saying that Okami was scared in the rematch and that prior to the first Sonnen fight, Silva was a god

DJ during his flyweight run was the only fighter where I look at all his fights and go "you know what? I don't know how to beat this guy." With everyone else, even the greats like GSP, Jones, or Anderson Silva I can find weaknesses in their game and potential ways to exploit them for a win, with DJ there was nothing I could see other than catching him with a lucky punch.

No one who remembered the Tibau fight would suggest Khabib. I liked Tibau

Carwin, Lyoto, Volk

Anderson Silva in his prime
Jon Jones in his prime
Fedor during his unbeaten streak
Khabib
Conor up until the Nate fight
Aldo during his 10 year unbeaten streak
Paddy Pimblett
Mighty Mouse
GSP post Serra
Islam
Volk at fw
izzy before his loss to jan
Dare I say Ronda before her fights against Amanda and Holly
Francis Ngannou for most of his career
Sneaky Paddy in there haha

Jones during his hellbows phase.
To me it was almost unfair to have him there.

But the one with the special aura was Fedor.
