Wasn't that the only time he successfully used it?
I think this is probably the best example given in this thread.
Didn’t people start calling that the Mir lock?
Well it was the first front kick to the face KO in the UFC history, so I favor Silva's more. Still, Jumping crane kick is very stylish too.Crane kick > front kick in terms of how impressive it is too see used to knock someone out. Literally out of a movie.
As for TS, Jones' oblique kick for sure.
How about the St. Flue choke?!?Jason Von Flue. OSP is great for hitting that choke multiple times, but the Jason is one of a small handful of fighters to invent a submission. Calling it a St. Preux choke is shit for food.
<45><45>I'm not at a fan of Jon Anik. One of my most hated Aniksisms is his ridiculous overuse of the word "Patented".
"noun
the exclusive right granted by a government to an inventor to manufacture, use, or sell an invention for a certain number of years."
So rather than turning this into a weak-ass bitch fest, I thought it better to ask:
What exists in MMA that we can call genuine "Patented" (as per Anik bullshit) moves?
AKA genuine one offs, or moves that can attributed to one individual alone.
Machida's crane kick on Randy is the best I've got so far.
What am I missing? Keeping in mind genuine "patented" (cough cough bullshit) moves only
Anderson Silva is my favorite fighter but Machida knocked out Rich Franklin with one before he even entered the UFC.yes, obviously, Anderson invented the whole concept of throwing a front kick to the face,
not one person ever even considered such a thing
