Fighters letting their opponent off the hook

Chael vs Anderson x2

hqsonnentaps_medium.gif

After putting Anderson on his back for the entire 1st round, Chael went for the ealy takedown in the 2nd, but Anderson grabbed Chael's shorts to keep it standing. Chael then followed up with this:

Both fights were Chael's, until he threw them away

So you mean the buzzer went a off second later?? Not even including the cheap shot it obviously was. But you go back and re-watch it. You’ll see there wasn’t enough time left for Silva to do shit. It was the definition of a buzzer beater in the same vein as Machida/T Silva.

True
There's a good chance that one or two more shots would've been enough to keep Bisping from getting up on his own.

And yeah, super cheap shot.
The fact that he seemed like he didn't care (even when he could've remained relevant and potentially challenged for a title again at some point in the future) is where I got off the train.

Ok I just rewatched it and you're right, there was not much time to do anything as the buzzer went right after Bisping dropped.

But cheap shot?

Wtf are you talking about? A fighter's job is to fight until the bell goes or the ref steps in, and defend himself at all times. Perfectly legal, and nothing cheap about it.

Quit crying, you’ve already admitted you were wrong. What kind of upstanding fighter takes advantage of the mouth guard situation? Yes, it was legal, but cowardly nevertheless. Especially for a GOAT candidate. At least it wasn’t a blatant eyepoke like Jones fans love so much.

I guess it comes down to your own moral compass. Some of us have them in regards to sports. Some of you are lowlifes.

What crying? I think you're being way too emotional and displaying to many female characteristics right now to tell me what's cowardly, manly, etc...

I'm a lowlife because I don't virtue signal my "moral compass" about some imaginary gentlemanly conduct that's supposed to take place in a cage fight? Yeah you can just go fuck yourself buddeh.

I don't remember the guy's name who kept trying to take O'Malley down when his leg was so injured he could barely stand. Like, he couldn't even stand to do his post fight interview. Better get him to the mat, idiot!
soukhamthat or sth like that. yeah he's a great example. nate vs leon obviously too, nate is special in every sense of the word

I am not a thread maker at all and seriously considered starting one just on hypothesis that I felt that Francis was totally “being nice“ weirdly to Cereal. It almost seems like there was a “reason” why he was not pounding the fuck out of his head while on top of him. Maybe he was exhausted but it just seems like a conscious choice not to strike him on the head while he had them on the ground. I swear by this.

Anderson definitely should have hit Bisping after the bell, that would have been a great decision.

Gastelum had Adesanya hurt, then decided to clinch with him.

How do you guys think that Silva-Bisping round should be scored? Personally I think if someone has to be rescued by the bell it’s gotta be at least 10-8, I don’t care what happened beforehand.

Chael had exceptionally low fight IQ. Let’s throw the Fedor fight in as well. He didn’t have that fight won or anything but holy shit was that dumb.

He’s a well-spoken guy too, which just goes to show that poise is a big part of fight IQ, it’s not just about being real world intelligent.

Palhares with his goldfish fight IQ vs Dan Miller

Thought he finished Dan Miller and stopped the fight himself

After the confusion and restart, almost got knocked out by Dan Miller (to be fair Palhares did win a decision in the end)

This is the one that I came to post. That's so embarrassing. Palhares is a clown.

Francis hasn’t shown much confidence in stringing skills together. He’s also shown a tendency to fatigue and lose pop. On top of which he fought injured and wasn’t faring well in the standup. Looked like he was just looking to escape
