Fighters bench press

You're a moron if you cant comprehend what im saying,
A SLIGHT ARCH IS OKAY.
A over exaggerated arch is just a technique to shorten the rom and put up more weight. POINT BLANK.
Simple shit moron,

What if my penor had a slight arch to the left when erect. Is this acceptable?

Only pussies bench with feet touching the ground and arching their backs.

That's why I always bench with legs up and back straight. No chance to cheat.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Overhead presses are "healthier" for the shoulders?

Thats right they are. Proper overhead press works all 3 heads of the deltoids but im not talking those bodybuilder press garbage which just overloads the Anterior much like the bench does. Im talking full lockout , center of the body lockout presses -much like the old strongmen used and they never had rotator cuff problems like benchers do. Bench also overdoes the internal rotators again leading to rotator impingement while the overhead avoids this.

What are some of the ufc fighters bench press numbers look like ? I know Brock put up 225 42 Times I've heard wandys max was around 280-285 . So what have you guys heard or confirm ?

A better question is what are the fighters' deadlift numbers!
A better evaluation of overall body strength

Well since the original topic is out the window as usual, here is my opinion:

Fuck back arching ego lifts. You also look ridiculous.

Actually, the ability to press heavy weight at high velocity does correlate to higher and more explosive punching power.

If Dan Henderson worked with Louie Simmons doing explosive bar training for most of his career, his punches would be even scarier than they are.

So does this mean you have god-like ko power?

Well, even the overhead press does not heavily work the posterior deltoids, but I do like it better than the flat bench press. One of the reasons old time strong men and weightlifters had fewer shoulder issues was that most did (all weightlifters) the Olympic lifts which feature a pulling component, and the snatch and variations of the snatch are exceptional for training the external rotators. The Cuban press was adapted from weightlifting for just this point and is sometimes used in rehab.

That being said, I really think that it is often shit technique on the bench press and poor programming that cause many of the problems with the rotator cuff. Many guys start out and do a lot of benching and not enough upper body pulls, to say nothing of weightlifting, and have an imbalance that gets worse over time. Or keep flaring their elbows out when pressing instead of tucking them properly.

Many really good benchers at the gym I train at who have no shoulder issues at all, largely because of good program design and good technique.

I can't arch my back to create shorter ROM. Can you guys really do that? I might have a really immobile upper back. My lower back gets arched no matter what though due to stiff hipflexors. Could FU bench but I'm a lot more stable with feet down plus it adds a lot of weight on the bar

Bench Press is such a manlet exercise, only manlets care about it because for once in life they actually have an advantage

Nothing personal here, I don't even know you. I am just analyzing your critique of my post and providing my response.

Powerlifter strength? What does this mean?

Shoulder width grip? So you're essentially doing a close grip bench press, which proves my point.
I decided to stop guessing and go to evaluate my exact mechanics at the gym today. Shoulder width is being too narrow to describe. I put my pinky fingers in the more narrow lines on the bar not the wider ones where some guys go. As for an arch I guess you could say my lower back is forced to rise up about the size of a fist off the bench; but in no way shape or form is this an arch like you see that girl doing in the pic. That is purposely arching your back for the purpose of hoisting more weight at the expense of your back. This is what works best for me. I am 6 3 wirh 6 6 arms and very much and Ecto. I have known people like my father and law who was a successful powerlifter in bench only that are short and stout and can do the Arched back to do large amounts of weight. Again I may not be aiming personally for the same kind of high weights you are talking about. I train differently. The mechanics that work for one person don't work for everyone. For me controlled ranges of motion like benching with my legs raised up and a flat back and lower weight higher rep gets me better results for what I want. I'm not downplaying other ways working for other people for their goals.

This applies to a lot of weightlifting. Shorter range of motion. I can't think of a lift that this doesn't apply to.... Atlas stones.

Throws, rowing, jumping.... Antimanlet movements.

Makes you wonder how all weightlifting records are hold by people 6'0+

Probably because they can pack on more weight

Probably most of the heavyweights are over 300. The little guys can probably still get like 250 or whatever.

Ya, 6'0 is still short in terms of giant men. Benedict Magnuson is 6'0, but is built like one of those weeble wobble guys you meet who are 5' high and 5'wide.
Strongmen, on the other hand, where the sports require lifting to a height, loading, running or carrying weight, and maybe an occasional throw, are much taller on average. You get monsters like Brian Shaw and Hafthor, and they STILL don't have the very greatest powerlifting numbers, because they are 6'9.

I wouldn't call it useless. Most MMA fighters lift weights to increase strength, explosivness and endurance. Bench press is one of the best upper body exercises

Deadlift>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Bench:)

This. So fucking much this. In Powerlifting, ROM is king. Short arse, T Rex-arms motherfuckers are Born to Bench. Tall guys like me with Gorilla arms struggle to improve our Bench. We can eventually put up decent numbers, but we sweat blood for every kilo or rep added. And many of us will use a close grip because it's easier on our shoulders, which take a real beating when we try to Bench heavy.

The upside for members of the King Kong Club is that we are to Deadlift what Gimli son of Gloin is to the Bench. ROM makes Deadlift our prison bitch, and I'm very happy about that:)
