Can someone please explain to me how anyone who's job it is to get into a cage and smash someone's face in with their elbows and try to break their limbs is someone to look up to?
Don't get me wrong, I love the violence, the carnage, and all that come with bloodsports - but the one thing I will never get is why people are so focused on these guys as people... Personally, I couldn't care less if fighters are racist/wife beaters/drug abusers/super cocky dickheads/bullies/whatever - the reason is that I know that eventually the fighters i dislike will be brutally KO'd the old fashioned way. Its a fight - why are people so intent on seeing fighters they dont like get banned/shunned because of who they are, not how they fight?
I hate the way people treat this like a real sport - it absolutely is not a real sport - its almost completely unstructured, universally unregulated, there is no league/legit ranking or points system for the fighters to know where they're at, the championships are given out via whim rather than win, and nobody is in charge, and its not ever gonna be Olympic (skateboarding is more of a sport)... And that's not a knock on the fighters, who go though intesne training to become athletes - its a knock on the way they're efforts are virtually worthless in a world that offers zero guarantees, incentives, or prospects besides the next fight... Its a joke.
About personalities; Josh Koscheck... I absolutely hated that guy. I wanted him to get beaten so badly he'd need feeding through a straw before every one of his fights, and when he won and taunted the crowd, I used to get super triggered - and now I miss him... I miss all the good heels - they've all gone and turned onto these sanitsed carbon copies of the fighter before them... Dont even try to tell me about Colby fucking Colvington. Goddamn wannabe heel with a chicken heart.
Koscheck being awesome:
Anyway, i know this has been kind of rambling, so if you're still here, thanks for reading...
I guess the point I'm trying to make is that we need to just enjoy MMA for what it is, and stop trying to take things away from it... Let the fighters be as evil and nasty as they want - it just makes the fights better and more exciting when yoh really want to see someone get smashed.
Personally I think that MMA needs an overhaul in the way its ranking and inter-promotional system works to bring it up to the modern day in terms of being a proper sport, but sissies whining on instagram about fighters bad habits/criminal records/political views and going on witch hunts isn't the way.
War the heels.
Bring on the Union.
