Time for this rule change. If you're caught in a submission you must escape before round ends.

Edit: round ends after fighter taps or escapes.

Fuck that. If you're going to do something like that just get rid of rounds completely, which will never happen

Jake Shields would beg to differ.

What about if a dude is rocked? Can they finish the attack like Jose vs Chad 2 at the end of the round? Can't favor submissions.

That bike pedal move tho lol

You're out of your mind. The way the rules work now is THEY ARE saved by the bell. If you want a rule change you have to propose it, and each commission must accept it. You don't get to make up new rules in the middle of an event that changes a fight's outcome.

To the death!

I respectfully disagree, it makes absolutely no sense to me.

Stupid.

Sports have time limits you know?

Better start my striking combo at 4:59 and knock you out 2 seconds after the bell.

That's dumb.

The round has a time limit for a reason. If you catch a fighter in a submission hold and can't tap them out before the round ends, that's on you.

if a fighter gets punched after the final horn and KO'd, the KO will not count (since the strike is illegal).

but if a fighter survives to see the final horn in a choke, such that the ref never stops it, but then "appears" out afterwards, they can call a TKO after the fact? WTF?

that's fucking ridiculous. that outcome only makes sense between rounds, as a fighter could be judged unfit to continue. After the fight has ended though? that's some sketchy decision-making on the part of officials...

Man. Have none of you ever been submitted? Makes all the sense in the world.

It would be like a shot not being counted in basketball if it was in the air after the horn.

exactly.

mma is supposed to be as close to real combat as possible.

What about the term "Mixed Martial Arts" do you NOT understand? It's not called Mixed Street Fighting.

Just Bleed!

This isn't baseball though. The bell sounded the fight was over at that point. The decision was made after the fight and sloppily calling it a tko, the correct technical ruling didn't happen.

You shouldn't stop the round if the person is rocked then. It's a fight like you said, you can't let the guy recover just because the round ends.

Setting a precedent. Fighters are going to hold onto subs until the ref drags them off now
