MM finishes Moreno faster than he did Benavedez. Not that he sucked in terms of skills, but it exposed him to be nothing but a point fighter in comparison. If MM was fighting Moreno he would just stick to jabs, lowkicks and double leg lay and prays just to rack up points.
Not so with figeuredo, he was doing very well just pumping out his jab but instead he took risks and left himself open while trying to finish Moreno at many occasions.
This gave us a great fight that was more entertaining than all of MM’s squash matches combined. MM did have finishes but only when his outmatched opponents had surrendered basically and wanted out.
dont even get me started on DJ’s lack of personality or unwillingness to market himself.
Actually, MM finished Benavedez faster than Figueredo and much more easily.
The out of context you're using is "when he outmatches his opponents"... DJ outmatches everybody. Nobody comes close to his level in the division, not in present nor in past. And don't pretend Benavedez isn't a tough opponent either.
It was a fun fight, don't get me wrong. But all I saw was a man who couldn't beat Moreno.. Moreno lost to the weaker pettis bro and some other bum in a row I wont bother looking up right after.
If Cejudo and and MM come back, Fig's ceiling will be the 3# rank.
We all love fig, but let's not try to discredit the flyweight GOAT to hype him up.
