At least England didn’t lose on penalties.

Besides the bad decisions its certainly less frustrating than a lot of England loses at big events, losing pen shootouts is one thing but whats often made it hard to swallow in the past was that England had themselves to blame for ending up in that position after playing negatively.

Ultimately though I don't think most big events are won on clear merit, there won on a few moments and decisions going your way most of the time, this WC being the ultimate example of that, really nobody in the semi finals has looked that dominant,

I don't think any reason to ditch Southgate either, indeed this game I felt he actually addressed the main criticism that he was too slow to change tactics when things werent going our way.
