Also Zhuravlev vs Douwes for Lhw title and Samo Petje defending his LW title against greek dude.

two good title fights under KB rules and RVR on his first MMA fight against a greek 6-5 on his MMA career(sherdog own source http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Athinodoros-Michailidis-93001)

as everyone know it is normal to start a career on MMA,Boxing(and even kickboxing),fighting against a not too much good qualified guy,but i am really curious to see RVR under MMA,i think his fight style fix a lot to this sport.

RVR is fighting on 65kg(he look on a more natural height at 65)

Video of the event weight ins:

fight already uploaded on Youtube by someone

Robin fight looked cool for a first match on MMA,he looked much more slower than usual on striking,he was not low-mid kicking preventing a takedown(thing he will be adapt and use his kicks with more MMA experience),he had some trouble when he was taken down by the greek, but recovered well standing up,and banged the guy for the second half of the first round(fight should be stopped when he was abusing the greek on the last 30 seconds)

A not bad performance for a debut, but i was expecting more from him,but im sure he will be more sharp and faster on striking skills under MMA with more fights,he looked not translating good to small gloves on the first round taking a lot of punches and slower than usual, but that is not problem because it is his first fight, anxious about debut, never had a pro fight on this formact too,but i think he can be a very good thing if he continue takes MMA fight and improve his ground game, but i really want to see him fighting only kickboxing, witch he do better, but who knows the future...

-His opponent was never Knocked out before,so it is the first time :)

Why is it always assumed this style is great for MMA? I don't get it.

The straightforward puncher can get by, but it's not anything better than all kinds of other approaches. And when someone is an uncomfortable grappler it's one of the worst styles of striking to have.

I think Andy Souwer looked better in his MMA debut.

True, but he also fought a cosplayer. RVR's opponent seemed more competent in grappling. Overall Andy looked more natural though.

pretty bad takedown defense, he couldt do much against the first couple of double legs. but still, it was his first fight gainst a guy who fought 11 mma fights. congrats

Just watched the fight.

Glad to see him win by KO. He did quite well all things considered, being his debut and his opponent having a few fights already. TDD isn't the best, but that's to be expected. I would've been surprised if he had been able to stop all of his shots. He is a Kickboxer after all and it's not like he was a Wrestler at any point although he does have a Judo Blackbelt, so that does give him a decent base.

The theory was that kicks leave you open to being taken down and there is truth to that. With the small gloves punches are the easiest way to hurt someone in a short space of time and leave you less vulnerable to take downs, it's good for stand up fighters who want to inflict as much damage as possible in a small time frame before being taken down.
