Subject: Female Fighters Explain How to Avoid Wardrobe Malfunctions
After earlier wardrobe malfunction, Miesha Tate 'doubled-up' on Reebok sports bra
“I doubled-up after I saw that,” Tate said during a recent in-studio MMAjunkie Radio appearance. “I didn’t see it, but I heard about it. I was like, ‘I’m putting on another sports bra, and I don’t care.’ It was a Reebok (sports bra), but it wasn’t part of the uniform.
“I was like, ‘I don’t care. I’m putting it on. You can’t make me go out there after seeing that fight – with just one (sports bra) on.’ I doubled up.”

Q: Leslie Smith famously had a nip slip, and Alexis Davis' thong popped out. Do you do anything special to prevent a wardrobe malfunction from happening in one of your fights?
Jordan Gaza:
“I usually wear two bras to prevent my little boobs from slipping out. As far as my shorts or skirt, I just take the risk. Nothing has happened yet! Knock on wood.”

Q. Do you have any awkward moments or uncomfortable issues being a female fighter? For example, I had issues with Turtle shells or breast protectors as a boxer. Weird question, I know but I can relate! [Laughs]
Nicco Montaño:
“I always wear two bras and two pairs of shorts. I have this, I don’t know if it’s rational or irrational, fear of my woman parts falling out. [Laughs]”

“Ronda Rousey told media attendees that she has in the past had to change her fighting technique to avoid “flashing people” and has also worn two bras at one time in a fight for extra support.”

Gina Carano:
“I usually just wear three sports bras during a fight."

Brye Ann Rusillo explains that she tries not to let the attention given to her breasts detract from her determination to pursue her MMA career, in which she has quickly gained a reputation for more than just her breasts; in her first fight, she broke both her opponents' legs.
"I kind of just go with it now, but every once in a while I get really angry at what I read," says Brye, who says she has enquired about a breast reduction, but was advised against it until she is sure she won't have more children. I have my moments, where I think, this isn't fair, just because I'm blonde with big boobs doesn't mean I'm any less of an athlete."
The size of her breasts means that Brye, who trains wearing two sports bras, and three bras on fight day, is limited to fighting at higher weight categories.
