At the time it was widely considered a gimmie fight for Fedor. If anything he was criticized for not dominating from the start and stopping Hunt within a minute. People even played up Fedor "almost being submitted by Hunt" to discredit him. But as time goes on and Hunt continues to remain relevant in the HW division a decade later it really speaks as a testament to Fedor's dominance.
I don't buy that Hunt has became dramatically more technical since his stint in Pride. His biggest threats have always been his physicality and assets that cannot be trained like chin.
Fedor's win over Hunt is starting to mean more and more as his legacy matures. Same with his Arlovski win. I can't say the same for the resumes of other GOAT candidates like GSP and Anderson, who's best wins have essentially fallen off the map as viable contenders.
