is it too hard to understand that beating lesser competition in BETWEEN fights with the best competition available, doesn't make someone a less impressive fighter? Fedor STILL fought the best comp available while also smashing lesser comp in between to stay active. Stipe has averaged 1 fight a year for 4 years. while Fedor was in his prime he was fighting 3-5 times a year.

Oh yea, and while Fedor was fighting 3-5 times a year he was also dominating combat sambo, at the exact same time.

I would never say Fedor didnt fight best competition. He did and he was best. Fedor was elite in some parts of his game but what i am saying Fedor lacked roundness himself every other fighter has today and all of his competition were specialists.

Who cares about well roundedness. You can train everything and still get your clock cleaned by a specialist.

Lol Mirko got taken down by the first body kick he threw against Gonzaga before getting ko'd, let alone a wrestler like DC.

DC is a lot worse than Gonzaga at defending kicks.

That might be the laziest kick ever thrown by Anderson Silva.

Great OP @Claude

Still going strong after all these years!

With that said, Stipe was a great champion and seems like a stand up guy. Respect to him, he fought with heart in there as always.

All big names and on the surface a better list than Fedors top wins, but context matters. 5 of the 6 guys you named were years into decline when Stipe beat them. If you transplanted 2017 JDS or 2016 Reem into Pride would you really be all that shocked if they got their heads taken off by someone like Cro Cop? what about 2016 39 year old Werdum vs Pride Nog (who he actually lost to in Pride 10 years earlier)?

Nonsense

Werdum was defending champ who had finished Cain and Fedor.
Reem was on a 16-3 run and 4 straight
AA had won 6 straight (4 in the ufc) and 10 of 11...only losing to Rumble.
JDS had just soundly defeated a SURGING Big Ben and went on to win 3 straight immediately after...including a stoppage of black beast
DC was the champ who had just toyed with Black Beast

Yes...i'd be absolutely floored if 2017 jdS or 2016 reem lost to any version of CroCop.

Ye Sakuraba was so not great HW that he managed to win UFC HW tournament beating Conan Silvera.
Saku beat UFC HW tournament winners Royce Gracie & Vitor Belfort who also fought UFC HW title eliminator, beat UFC HW champions Shamrock and Randleman, beat Pancrase HW champion Mezger.

Sakuraba took reigning no.#1 HW in the world Vovchanchyn to draw, and extra round.
Saku also beat Rampage Jackson who was not smaller than Cro Cop.

But guess Sakuraba was no HW despite having multiple big HW wins for his time.

Just because someone is on a decent run doesnt mean they are in their prime, there are other factors involved. Guys like AA and Werdum should make that very clear. People were calling for AA to retire for the sake of his health like 5 years before Stipe fought him for fucks sake.

Did he win UFC HW tournament, or not?

Did he beat UFC HW champions and UFC HW torunament winners and Pancrase HW champions in HW fights with no weight limit or not?

Where's @Fioretti when i need him lol.

Hey be well man, get yourself vaccinated and be safe.

It's not even a debate who the HW GOAT is, despite what Joe Rogan says.

Yea man he beat Royce, Ken, Conan Silveira

Nope.

When > who

Stipe beat big names but most of them were washed up with over 10+ years of mileage. Fedor beat the best in their primes. Check how ridiculously high were Stipe's opponents mileage compared to his:

u think juiced to the gills fedor beats those old washed up guys who stipe fought?
these are HWs even for an older age they could still be in their prime
fedor didnt evolved thats why he kept losing

Semmy Schilt at one point, was the number 1 ranked fighter on the planet and top ten when Fedor fought him. Coleman was top ten when he fought Fedor and a former UFC HW and Pride champion. They were quality wins at the time.

Being mad at the numbers doesn't change the numbers.

Also, Stipe got KO'd by a poor man's Semmy, lol.

Thank you for the kind words. Have a good night.

Is that a serious question?

Yes, piece of cake for prime Fedor.

They were not in their primes. HW just didn't produce young talent.
