Fedor strengths and weaknesses and his skillset in the UFC today (Long Thread)

Physiological science, biological science, and human development is not "my logic", but I appreciate the compliment. Physical prime is 27-35 even if you worship a guy real hard. Sorry.

Individual personal bests do not equate to "prime". Fighters lose in their prime quite regularly. The most intriguing thing about MMA, buddy boy, is anybody can lose at any time. Despite how good they are, how well prepared they are, how prime they are, or how much you want their big peepee.

If you had any actual combat sports experience, ever competed, or ever stopped furiously typing hateful nonsense from grandma's basement, you might have figured that out. Type harder, friend. Might work this time.

Ok Kev.

Nagata was Fedors 5th fight that year. The same year he beat Big Nog for the HW championship and beat Fujita and Goodridge within 8 weeks of eachother. No one is giving Fedor extra credit for beating Nagata you fool, I'm saying that it's not something he should be criticized for. It was his 5th fight that year man. Jesus. Imagine hating a fighter this much you criticize them for being ACTIVE. SMH.

Another way to look at things as well is that Fedor like a lot of big names from that era did not have the kind of career we often expect today were fighters might spend years fighting lower level comp in smaller orgs(RINGS being arguebly the 2nd biggest org at that point ahead of the UFC).

If anything I think that kind of career were those mid/low level fights end up getting mixed in across it rather than front loaded ends up being harder on fighters, not only are they fighting a hell of a lot but they are having to train at the highest level from early in their careers, a lot of modern fighters probably spend part of their eary career as semi pros without the same kind of training involved.

Of course. Fedor fought 5x the year he became the champion. Mirko fought 8x in 2004. His 8th fight was a loss to Randleman and he went 7-1 that year. Barnett fought 7x in 2006. This is a completely different structure and fight trajectory. The haters in this thread like to criticize these fighters for being active. Mind blowing.

Anyone who doesn’t suck Fedor off as the greatest of all time is a hater?

Mate, maybe people have perspective about time and place. Maybe some people aren’t so emotionally invested in a time and place.
Yeah some people might think Derrick Lewis is the best ever. They are entitled to their opinion. But fedor being the best hw is a more widely accepted opinion.

Speaking of emotionally invested: cool bro it’s not like you and the other Anti Fedor guys have more posts than me in this thread LMAO

Nobody is criticizing any fighter for being active. We're being real. Mirko crushed cans too. Guys would fight 2-3x a night back in the day. Fight frequency and can crushing isn't exclusive to Fedro. It is what it is. Stop trying to make it magical, kidd-o.

Elite fighters winning against insignificant fighters make the wins less significant. When they start facing elite fighters and losing, it speaks for itself.

Acknowledging this fact doesn't make anyone a hater. Refusing to acknowledge reality makes you obnoxious and delusional.

I disagree entirely. Once you make it to the UFC there is no breaks. Stipe and Ngannous run is just constant killers. You can attempt to downplay it by saying they beat a lot of past prime guys but it is nonsense. It would be way easier for them to beat cans and unranked or lower weight class guys. I love Fedor but he did get to enjoy a lot of breaks with easy winnable fights. Also when he started he also started in a lower level orgs. Arona was his first legit high level fight and to be fair Arona is a LHW not a HW, same with Babalu and a lot of the guys Fedor later beat and I say this as someone who says Fedor would be top 10 today. That is not to forget that he also beat some people with losing records or who never fought before.

The thing is while Cro Cop was really just a LHW he was an elite striker. I would favor a 225lb Cro Cop over obese Lewis and many others. The issue is Fedor facing an elite but large striker who he cannot takedown like Ngannou or JDS, Ubereem (unless he finds his chin) or Stipe and Werdum who are also great on the ground. Fedor would be top 7 for sure.

It's all speculation. If we base our speculation off of his actual in-cage numbers, Fedro's likely to win around 50% of the time when he consistently faces top competition.

The reality is Tai is a superior version of Hunt that is a fact. And Lewis beats most people Fedor beat except Cro Cop, Arlovski, Bader, those types. Nog was great but a lot of bigger and better takedown artists failed to takedown Lewis and Lewis also has yet to be submitted except by Cormier and Lewis has handled many BJJ black belts on the ground he has beaten 9 black belts overall... not all took him down but there is literally a video about his ability to just get up.

If Fedor can be outmuscled by a nearly 300lb Big Foot who is a BJJ and Judo black belt and KOd by a 200lb man and then finished also by 220lbers lilke Bader and finished by 260lb Mitrione than for sure Blaydes who is better than all those guys could be a huge threat along with Pavlovich, Aspinall, and of course Stipe, JDS and Ubereem. Let us also not forget that a same aged Werdum also won. I like Fedor but I am realistic

Yeah. 3-3 when he faced 6 top 10s in a row. Very telling of what that streak would've been without all the unranked and freakshow fights.

It's still unrealistic to try and predict how the fights would go, who would beat who, and all that. MMA is too unpredictable, that's what makes it so awesome.

Tai is a superior version of Hunt?

It sure as fuck isn't striking.
