I don't see how he pulls it off unless he lands a flurry. Age and decades of injuries have long since taken his ability to punish a HW for taking him down. Johnson isnt setting the division on fire or anything, but he's a good HW fighter who's solid in different phases and certainly one of the best HWs in Bellator right now.

I will have a hard time watching this one, as Fedor was always my favorite fighter in MMA. He's still got faster hands than most, and that's all he'll have going for him.

Yea it seems like running his camp allows his body to stay somewhat conditioned year round, but without beating him up so much.
 
It's pretty easy to see why they picked Tim. Fedor's camp know we all know Tim is good and Fedor is old. It's basically a win win situation: if Fedor loses he lost to a good fighter, if he won he beat someone who was just competitive with the champ.

People like you have been leaving comments like this ever since I got on Sherdog lol when will you guys learn... oh yeah, 2020 join date. Probably started watching when McGregor starting punching old men and throwing dolly's at bus windows full of people.

yes sir, badass prediction... not the boldest but you were pretty much spot on. Problem is, I feel this way about every Fedor fight when he stands with someone beause he is absolutely capable of it against any one at any time. This is why he is the GOAT.
 
His defense and shot knees arent close to primed but he can still do shit like this against a dangerous top 20 HW whos beaten 3 top 10 UFC HWs

The real shocking thing is Fedor looked better than Moldavsky vs Tim.

I dont think it was THAT shocking. Moldavsky is one of the best HWs of this era but hes still mainly a grappler. Timothy can get caught and Moldavsky doesnt have the striking and handspeed of even a 45yo Fedor. Timothy matches up better against grapplers (hes outgrappled Tybura, Shamil, 2 of the best grapplers @ HW now, Omleinanczuk, was even with Rosholt etc) or more technical strikers without 1 punch KO power (Volkov who he got robbed against)
 
This really would be a great match to retire on. His record as it stands is 40-6. He has nothing left to prove as he is the greatest heavyweight fighter in MMA history.

lol, every time a past their prime legend loses in a decisive fashion - there is a torrent of replies from people about how bad it feels, or how depressing it was to witness, or how a certain fighter should hang 'em up.

i guarantee there have been people that have been here before your join date that have expressed such sentiment after a late fedor loss or anderson silva loss, or rampage jackson loss.

i'm glad fedor won and that people are happy. don't be glib though.

backpedal what? baiting? i made an off the cuff remark to add to the banter of the thread, and you've made a few incorrect assumptions about my motivations while insulting me. i'm genuinely happy fedor won, and that people are psyched. i thought he'd lose for a couple of rational reasons, and so did a bunch of people going by the betting lines. you seem to think i'm anti-fedor or a hater or something, but i'm telling you you've barked up the wrong tree from the drop, and are being a douchebag to boot.
 
I love how before the fight Timothy Johnson was a journeyman who should have been able to beat old Fedor. Now after fight, he gets pushed up to another level. Honestly I don't mind Fedor competing against other over 40s.
I don't want to see him in another competitive fight against a younger guy. One of the hardest fights I had to watch was Sakuraba vs Arona.
