They both ignored basic fundamentals in their prime, relying on speed and reflexes to dodge strikes and pounce on openings. It works when you have the physical ability, but when that fades, we see sloppiness and an amateur element that didn't exist during the height of their respective careers.

Fedor looked terrible today and was clearly out-boxed. His jab fell back to his hip every time he threw it, exposing himself to Fabio's right hand. He winged punches off his opponent's forearms, neglecting body shots and timing. Unexpectedly atrocious technique. Lucky he was in there with a bloated meat bag and not a real killer.

Much love to Fedor for going to work like a gladiator and keeping his courage in the second and third round after getting pummeled. Have to respect a legend putting it on the line. Of course, using superior grappling works too.

No anderson is still competitive in THE UFC at age 40, fedor arguably lost to candonado.

Don't compare da GOAT to that can crusher.

Anderson at 41 would have Matrix'd Brawldanada.

Everyone's peak ends and they start to decline. It doesn't erase the 10 or so years he was undefeated. Keep using the mma math though

possibly but anderson is also very hittable at 41 and moldanado has more power than bisping. the last time anderson silva fought guys with big power he got ko'd

Maldonado is not a power puncher. Watch his UFC fights. Decent timing but not known as a heavy handed guy.

I do think Anderson is probably the better talent. Not the point of what I was posting, however.

Silva > Fedor

Not even close

I'd say there is an argument to be had, but i agree.

he caught fedor coming and this is non-tested maldanado and he definitely hits harder than bisping i'd say.

There's some career similarities, but one juiced and lost to Takase.

I think maldonado has a chance vs Anderson let alone a 41 year old Anderson. Maldonadoi#s style could be bad for this version of Anderson

This is gonna blow your wig back, but... check it out:

Fighters get old. Even GOATs and Last Emperors.

Anderson isn't what he used to be but he also doesn't wade into the pocket and throw 8 punch combinations without cutting angles or moving his head. It wasn't some great timing Fabio used to catch Fedor, it was Fedor's boxing technique that left him vulnerable.

Neither are power punchers, but both can put the other guy down if they time their shots, as has been clearly displayed.

Fedor of today vs Anderson who fought Bisping, I think Anderson would tool Fedor.

fedor ain't what he use to be either. there is a reason why he has multiple sambo/judo medals and 16 submission wins and was sweeping nogueira and slamming heath herring. he was a grappler first that has turned into a head hunter. simply put, fedor at his absolute best was better than anderson at his best and no steroids or cutting weight. its also the nature of their styles that anderson silva should last longer. anderson isn't an aggressive blitzer fighting heavyweights so doesn't take as much punishment.
