Fedor In Negotiations with The UFC

Wow, i'm surprised so many people don't want to see one of the most exciting HWs ever to fight in the UFC. You guys do know his contract with Rizin isn't exclusive right?

Sad to see a legend squandering his legacy with this type of shit.

I dont think anyone believes Fedor wants to truly fight in the UFC, i am a huge fan but at this point I dont believe he will ever fight in the UFC, and im cool with that. Im happy enough to see him fighting anywhere, but at least fight some bigger names, King Mo, Lashley, Tito, even Kimbo at this point....Maldanado? cmon my man, you can do better than that.

I don't care he's not the best anymore, I would be very happy if he finally signed. Most people would love to watch him in the UFC. But most of us can't hear this crap anymore because we all heard this before, so many times. We know it's not happening! Fedor acting like it's just a matter of time is really freaking annoying.

I dont know it it was you or another poster that compared Fedor to Cyborg.
Talking about fighting the UFC champ but doing nothing to make it happen and doing it to get some PR /hype for their own fight.
...

People claim Fedor gets paid a lot because he is good marketing and have a lot of followers.

Completely agree however I don't think Fedor is good marketing at all. I think it's quite the opposite, it was really hard to sell him in America. Hardcore fans care about him but that's it. Remember this?

Is it people don't want to see it or that people just don't believe this anymore. It's like Cyborg I got excited everytime she talked about dropping weight then she would change her mind last minute. It feels more like a game to get attention then actual news.

I thought he was balling out with all that m1 money

As long as Fedor's contract isn't exclusive it's news and it's a possibility. I would like to see him fight in the UFC if he's going to continue fighting as I think he still has the skills to be the best or one of the best but I understand that he doesn't need to sign a restrictive contract that he doesn't like.

His comments about sambo were interesting.

Damn, that interviewer need to keep the mic on Fedor. It's fucking FEDOR!!! Stop pulling it back before he's done.

"I would like to have a rematch against Fabricio Werdum," he said, again.

"I've told the UFC many times that I want and would accept that fight."

UFC should offer Fedor 600k/600k with PPV percentage.

Meh, its obvious the UFC and Fedor just can't do business.

I don't know who's at fault, but there's slim pickings outside the UFC.

Either let me know when you're signed or say nothing.

I hate the way MMA is set up because of shit like this. All fighters should be freely able to fight in any org that will pay them the money in an effort to improve their ranking or to stay active, not be locked behind contracts to orgs. Free agents, everyone, bar the champions of orgs who must defend or relinquish their belts.

An independent worldwide association could track rankings and confirm if a fighter is eligible to fight for a belt (or enter a tournament, etc). Obviously there could be a 'wildcard' for fighters like Fedor etc.

Scenarios like this are the exact reason why the framework of MMA needs to change if it ever wants to consider itself a
"sport".

A lot want to see it, but it meant more 7 years ago & he has said this before (only to go fight cans).
It seems like he uses the publicity of "negotiating with UFC" to keep his name out there.
There is no chance he will get a title shot in his first UFC fight though.

MMA is considered a sport.
Only people that don't think so are hardcore Sherdoggers that like to bitch.

I agree with you Frankie MMA IS a sport. BUT.....
I do see some troubling things in mma, such as Fedor fighting 2-0 fighters and Fabio.
Seeing people in the big orgs getting title shot coming of losses.
Getting title shots with out any fight in the division and so on and on.

In what other sport would this be okay?
I think mma is kinda going the wrong way with all this. It seems entertainment and sales are more important than being legit.

You can't compare prize fighting to other sports.
Boxing is even worse than MMA in that aspect.

The definition of SPORT
an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment.

The entertainment aspect is IN the definition.

MMA/Boxing are set up differently than other sports.
What other sports need a few months in-between competing?
So the competition is maximized for entertainment.
If a fighter fought 16-162 times a year (like other sports), it would be different, but that is not the nature of the beast!

I know I know I know.

But it will always grind my gear that you can lose your way to a title fight.
But thats just me.

I am getting old and bitchy. When I was young.....!

No, you certainly have a point about "not earning" your position.
I hate that aspect.
But it is still a 'sport'
I think 15 years ago, others did not look at it that way, but in 2016 UFC certainly made sports fans take notice that there is another way to prize fight instead of Boxing.

Oh it is a sport! I am not and will never argue that!
But I just argue that entertainment and popularity can earn you title shots over actual fight record.
I also hate that fights like Dada5000 vs Kimbo gaining "big" views.
To me it seems a lot of fans wants to be entertained more than see who is actually the best.
Of course I understand that! But still..... *wah wah wah* :)

BTW are you still connected to the business?
