I personally feel like Pride and UFC goats should be separated, primarily for the difference in the rules and setting. I think people don't realize how much a ring versus a cage makes a difference, plus the 10 minute first round. They would often do resets to the center of the ring if the fighters got to the edge of the ring on the ground, which effectively takes out cage wrestling and grappling, which is a huge part of cage MMA like in the UFC or Bellator. Cage cutting and ringe craft are also drastically different in a massive cage vs a small square ring. I actually think this plays a large part in the downfall of Fedor in Strikeforce and the lack of expected success for Cro Cop in the UFC, not so much that they exited their primes.
Fedor is without a doubt the Pride goat and the Pride heavyweight goat, but Stipe is the UFC heavyweight goat. I believe that's how those kinds of things should be sorted out versus arguing who was better when we really have no idea because the rules were so much different.

heh, I recall Wandi when he just joined the UFC, in his very first fight against CHuck, Chuck was on the ground (I don't recall is Wandi hit him, or if the Iceman lost balance), and Wandi started a kick then stopped himself. But by the time he decided on an alternative, Chuck was already hugging him against the cage.
That moment of hesitation was not THE reason Wandi lost, but it was a definite one he could have finished Chuck, and he missed that opportunity....
Fedor was about the same on his fight against Brett Rogers. Fedor was just following him, because he didn't know how to cut the cage, how to trap someone. Didn't sabe Brett to get knocked out, but it was obvious Fedor was not the same as he were in Pride.

Haha oh he was just going on about how the fight absolutely should’ve been stopped and how badly Fedor got his ass kicked, it wasn’t stopped because of corruption, etc. I was halfway joking about my anger, it definitely was not a good performance from Fedor. But I also think saying it definitely should’ve been stopped is a bit much. You can say the same thing about Lesnar-Carwin, Kongo-Barry…shit, Magny-Lombard could’ve been stopped at various times with either guy winning. Likewise, I scored rd 1 of Fedor-Maldonado a 10-8, and I think that’s the proper score. But again, we’ve seen judges score 10-9 instead in all kinds of fights.

Other things for his resume.

1. Only HW to be brutally KOed by a fighter TWO weight classes below him.
2. Only HW champ to fight opponents with virtually no MMA experience.
3. Only HW to get rocked by Maldonado and later saved by favorable Russian judges.
4. Only fighter to ever get KOed by Bader's jab.
5. Only fighter to ever make Matt Mitrione look like a world-beater.
6. Best wins (supposedly) are Big Nog and Cro Cop - two guys who got slaughtered when they cam to the UFC. Subsequently, Fedor himself decided not to fight in the UFC.

if fedor came out in the second and passed our lukeys argument would make sense but fedor came out and kept fighting so a stoppage wasnt warranted. even though if it was reversed ref would have said moldo is done
