Favourite sword?

cutlass. Has a hand guard, it's wieldy and efficient

Not a fan of the katana-styled ones, for a 2 handed sword, its shorter than alot of sabres, and has no hand protection

Thrusting with a cutlass?

Yes even a curved sword can thrust and most British cutlasses aren’t particularly curved the Naval 1845 pattern ones were spear pointed and were reprofiled latter to make them even more pointy ,the last pattern cutlasses the 1889 and 1900 are almost completely straight .

Thundercats sword of omens.

Actually DBZ Future Trunks' sword that sliced and diced Cyborg Freeza.

Green Dynasty. So thin and deadly.

The "favourite part of a sword" thread inspired me. Sincere credit to TS of that thread.

What's your favourite sword?

Mine just might be the Viking Sword.

It used a unique spiral weld (double helix weld) which was novel for its time, allowing for pliability and a stubbornness against breaking. Since it was one-handed It worked well in formation with the shield wall, but also if a combatant was fighting on his own. It carried a double edge and a point so it was versatile in how you directed your attack.

The Landgraf is badass

Just to add one to the two i said before, the Cinquedea fron Venice

Cinquedea was venetian for Cinque dita/Five fingers wich is the wide of the blade
Was used in Renassaince for super narrow streets of Venice where you can't use duelling swords like spada da lato/rapier

I love how aesthetically pleasing a Katana is. Perfection. In terms of practical use probably just a good ole trusty arming sword or longsword as they fill a lot of roles and are good for piercing and can slash.

Primarily a defensive weapon too. Good for parrying and blocking.
