For me its between dawn of the dead & Texas chainsaw. Im voting Texas chainsaw just because I took my 2 older sisters to see it when it came out in 03 and I can still remember hearing one of them scream in fear lol

The ring was easily the most disappointing for me to watch again. It does not hold up at all.

TCM 03 and DOTD 04 are both legit great remakes

Same cinematographer on TCM 76 as TCM 04 so visually, things are very consistently framed and color graded. Lee Ermy fucking crushed every moment of screen time.

Dawn 04 is one of Snyder's best movies. The mall setting is an iconic backdrop for what is essentially a brief purgatory disguised as a potential utopia before the inevitability of being swarmed and eaten to death.
The opening scene, the zombie baby, the dog with the care package scene... Ving fn Rhames

The jazz version of Down w The Sickness was a nice touch

13 Ghosts is criminally underrated

Zombieween...we don't talk about part 2 though

Anything with Brad Douriff in it got to win

DOTD closely followed by THHE and TCM which were also excellent.

Controversial opinion but I prefer DOTD remake to the original.

House of Wax for me. The Vincent Price original is a classic and I love the way that they updated the story in the remake. The sibling angle is great between protagonists and antagonists and the hillbilly horror makes for a great creepy atmosphere. Also a big fan of The Ring, which hasn't retained its fright power but which is still a compelling mystery for Naomi Watts to unravel, and with a great small role for Brian Cox. And then I'll shout-out both the original Japanese One Missed Call from Takashi Miike and the American remake.

If you watch Dario Argentos shorter version of Dawn it’s better and has more serious tone ,it’s put together better imop and better score .

TCM, House of Wax, The Hills Have Eyes, and F13th are all super solid remakes. Picking between them is tough. I need to watch Wax and Hills again before I vote. (Between TCM and F13th, it's close, but I lean TCM)

Easy call for me with The Ring, I like it as much as the original Japanese film, and I rate both highly. Both have aspects they do better than the other and have other aspects that are done differently but just as well as their counterpart (score, cinematography).

The Hills Have Eyes remake is quite good, as good or better than the Craven original.

The Dawn of the Dead remake is also quite good, though much different in tone than the original and not as much of a classic (though I can see why others may rate it higher than the original).

Thirteen Ghosts isn't among my favorites here but I respect it for being something different than the original and also as good or better than it.

My Bloody Valentine 3D is also pretty solid for a remake with a good twist. I don't like it as much as the original, but I respect it.

None of the others really approach the originals. The Grudge is fine largely due to it being directed by the director of the original so it's not bad or offensive, but it's not close to as good as the original (though it's easier to follow).

The Ring is the best. I enjoyed a bunch of the others though.

I also have a real soft spot for 13 Ghosts. Amazingly, I love that movie even though I hate that era Matthew Lillard

I’m going with The Last House on the Left as it’s actually an improvement on the original.
