Favorite War Room Posters

If you want to praise him for starting threads, that's different from praising him for starting good ones. If you want to amend your statement to "we can all agree that you sometimes start threads," I can get on that train.

No need to amend. Something is better than nothing so in comparison that's good. Me observing he's well respected as a TS isn't controversial. Check the old awards threads. Me saying his OP's are well put together (regardless of content quality) is fairly objective based on the thread starting guidelines. Plus, he includes visual media. As a matter of opinion I like his usage of center justification.

You got me on hyperbole when I said "we all agree". I certainly don't know that for a fact. But go ahead and give me your top tier of regular thread starters and what makes them better. Legit curious.

Just among the ones that pop into my head, Mick, Nostra, SPM, Sabre, and Greoric. More interesting topics, and in the case of some, more serious work put into getting things started. I really don't see how anyone finds "quote some boring news stories" to be good TSing, but it's subjective. I usually see the name and don't click, unless I see someone good as the most recent responder.

IMO, good content is written with logic and reasons, or at least not the insanely-biased, batshit-crazy op/eds dripping with hypocrisy masquerading as "news reports" today.

It's the reason why when it comes to social issues like the BLM, I prefer the opinion board on the Wall Street Journal and not the Huffington Post.
WSJ opinion board hasn't been consistently great either. They have better QC than Huffpo (not hard, since Huffpo's opinion section is basically wordpress+), but the latest piece I read from them on BLM was laughable. Deregulation is not a solution to the problems BLM is pointing to in any meaningful way.

I guess I don't hold my disinterest in his topics against him in my evaluation and I'm willing to respect the opinions of others on the matter.

Mick is up there. You mean Nostradumbass? Who is SPM? Sabre doesn't even register with me. Greoric as a TS...hmmmm.

Yes, on Nostra. He's an idiot, but starts good talks. SPM started a couple of interesting ones recently. Shitpostmodern.

I honestly don't know why you get so much shit from the right on here. your posts are almost always very thoughtful and well written.

LOL! Really? Really...? You can't understand one bit why @Jack V Savage would get shit from other posters, especially from the right? Jesus. You literally quoted him saying that the right is angry and the left are all normal people. I mean, the left isn't driven by anger? Antifa anyone? Or how about on page 1 of this thread

Yet another thread for Conservacucks to stroke each other's tiny egos.

He's talking shit because this thread was started by a right leaning poster. Or how about @Trotsky the other day wishing Ben Shapiro dies from cancer because he disagrees with his politics.

Shapiro is a snowflake. Seriously: the dude makes his career off of totes pwning his pick of immature college kids who he intellectually dwarfs. Smarmy little twat is a cancer to American discourse. Hope he gets cancer.

That's NOT ANGRY!? HAha. You see posts like this all the time in the war room yet the right is hateful and driven by fear? Give me a fucking break. Both parties are the same, just on different ends of the spectrum.

In other words, the reason why Jack gets shit on is because he's full of shit. He's also not as smart as he thinks he is. If you look at his posts, he's one of those quantity over quality posters. He'll always type up these long posts to try to be perceived like he's smart but in reality 95% of his post is baseless bullshit drivel and only 5% is a thoughtful argument. He's also a better manipulator than he is a decent arguer. Whenever he gets backed up into a corner (which happens a lot) he'll try to deflect and change the argument to try to act like you're the one who is in the wrong. Moving the goal posts is one of his best moves when he's losing an argument. Oh not to mention he'll throw in personal insults when he's getting beat down by someone in a thread. He's also extremely biased yet is unwilling to admit it. I mean he says the right is angry and the left isn't, then goes to list all these posters he likes and ironically they are all left leaning posters.

He also has an absolute shitty sense of humor. His jokes are fucking terrible and you can tell he doesn't laugh at lot in real life. He'd be so fucking boring to hang out with. It would be like watching a retard trying to play patty cake.

@KONE @lecter @ripskater @Pwent @Devout Pessimist @GearSolidMetal @Dr J @Slippery Kantus @klnOmega @RhinoRush can all agree with this sentiment. Because we see it from another perspective. Jack's perspective is that he's 100% right the left is 100% correct and everything else is wrong.

Next time just say Jack Savage is a left wing pussy and you agree with him because of it. Thanks.

Long rants full of ridiculous personal attacks are a good way to show you guys aren't rage-driven.

(1) My policies are not based on hate, nor fear. If anything, my political sympathies for the Trump-voting middle and working class whites (which largely differentiates socialists/communists from liberals: the fact that they advocate for Trump voters and do not wish to marginalize them) are keeping me from considering the former.
However, my hate (yes, hate) of persons based on who they are as people is legitimate. It has no bearing on my policy.

(2) I'm not a Democrat. I work against the Democratic Party more than I do against the Republican Party, since the Dems are at least malleable, what with their (delusions of?) decency and baseline intelligence.

(3) JVS isn't a leftist and, when he's not caught in a heated argument, is one of the most intelligent posters here. Whether he is a pussy is beyond my knowledge. The only time I've seen him be exceptionally inflammatory is with AnungUnRhama and IDL. But I'm not here all that consistently.

Also, for what it's worth, I don't buy that the right is "driven by hate and fear." I mean, statistics do show that fear plays a larger role in rightist political thinking, but I don't think that's ideologically endemic. I think the right is driven by ignorance and ego: in our system of information they have the option of believing what they want to believe over what is logical and practicable. Intellectual laziness is the hallmark of the right.

EDIT: Also, did you edit my post? I thought I specified that I despise Shapiro because he knows he exploiting and hurting his supporters.

I read a lot of the better right-leaning commentators and I have a few friends who are right-leaning and like to talk politics, but a lot of what I know of regular right-wingers (who aren't highly educated, professional commentators, etc.) is here. I'm not seeing people making reasoned arguments for why we need to cut Medicaid, weaken the safety net, and make regressive tax cuts (it used to happen more), but I am seeing a lot of blind hatred for liberals. And as I've noted, polls show that Republican voters are not strongly supportive of the party's actual policy set. For fuck's sake, you had a lot of people who supported Trump because they thought he'd be good for the working class! The support is completely removed from any policy agenda.

Great post dude.

I'm now nominating @Huked on foniks as one of my favorite posters.

For identifying as a democratic socialist, I am becoming more and more critical of bald democracy without serious appendages. As greatly important as solidarity with the (shrinking due to modern technology and possible-optimization of resource) working people is to me, epistocracy is becoming more and more attractive. Obviously, it would need to be fixated along economic strata to be insulated from oligarchic abuse, but I have completely lost faith in the informed American voter.

(But that's also due to our two-party single member district plurality system and the obsolescence of federalism-- a proportionally representative system, even in small amounts such as the House, would be hugely beneficial to rooting out lesser evilism and weakening the influence of large aggregations of capital.)

Great post dude.

You are certainly one of the more inconsistent posters here. You have bright flashes of rationality mixed into the standard hive-minded boot licking of the rest of the right here. You should be seeking to distance yourself from persons like that.

I'm guessing its rational when I agree with you, and irrational when I don't. You are only viewing things that way because you are unable to see the difference between someone holding a different view than you, and someone being irrational.

Pepe the frog and Steve Bannon sit in the White House and the best you can come up with is fringe groups like Antifa.

Only 3 of the 10 posters you mention are worth reading, with Dr J being the best of them, Lecter at least offering something interesting occasionally when he's not meta trolling, and Slippery Kantus. DP could be a good poster but he explicitly chooses not to be.

Certainly not on principle, but I'm sure there's considerable overlap. There are several persons here who I disagree with on 90% of issues but are rational and logical.

Also, my least favorite poster is probably Devout Pessimist. He's smarter than almost all of his peers, yet disregards utility, efficiency, and practicality for his sour, selfish interests. I don't think he does it for popularity or power, so he's not Ben Shapiro, but he's the closest here even if it's letting his own personal insecurities and reactionary reflex dictate his policy preference.

Glennrod, who I don't see post here much anymore, is the opposite: not very bright at all, but clearly driven by fairly stringent moral codes.

I think that's understandable but the wrong approach. What's been happening is that a powerful portion of the right has always had an unpopular policy agenda (safety-net cuts, regressive tax cuts, deregulation), and rather than move toward the public, they're trying to divide with identity politics, reduce voting, and fight for less majoritarian institutions (gerrymandering, for example). If we want policy that is more rational and more in line with what people want (and I think those two things are related, despite not having a lot of faith in the intellect of the public), the solution is more democracy. Find ways to increase turnout and find ways to make sure that more votes lead to more power.
