This movie is an anti-gun activist's wet dream.

And when you realize it's obvious propaganda... Its still a pretty good movie.
The worst thing about it is John Cusack being the most mediocre actor in the history of Hollywood.

The best part is Dustin Hoffman & Gene Hackman have been friends throughout their careers but have never been in a movie together... And they only got one scene together, and they knocked it out of the park.

Oscar-worthy performance for both just in this single scene.

Plenty of movies i love may loose push this or that thing i disagree with, as long is not heavy propaganda or ruin movie quality(example casting, writing etc) i don't care

Given description first that came on my mind is probably Barbie movie, was marketed as some sort of heavy feminist manifesto but ultimately was done in intelligent way promoting dialogue and need to be understood in costructive way, without demonize entire men race beyond light comical scenes (actually doing spot on ones, instead make shit up)

In fact the disappointed ones coming out of cinema were these female friends that were hoping for total men roasting/angry female V fo Vendetta type of thing lol

I don't even know if consider it "opposite" politics as i've nothing against positive principles of feminism that ask for equality while i'm glad to take a dump over recent toxic gimmicks, but movie distance itself from that latter approach too

Pretty much all mainstream content from the past 60 years has been rooted the the post ww2 worldview of linear liberal progress. I guess the closest thing to a movie with politics aligning with me would be Fight Club, though at the end they switch and start countersignaling.

Idk. There aren’t really a ton of movies where the moral of the story is that it’s ok to eliminate the civil rights of an entire people, or that the poor simply need to “pull themselves up by their bootstraps,” or give the wealthy more money so that they can “create jobs.”

One that comes to mind as a conservative’s wet dream is Taken. It’s a pretty fun movie despite the fact that it’s just white, suburban mom fear porn.

And those before the 60 year mark were not because....?

300 is mainstream and it has caveman politics.

The framing is still downtrodden small area resisting imperialism, in the name of democracy and freedom. I'm sure you could find an example just nothing really comes to mind as they are few and far between.

First Blood

Not politics per se but why would I want smelly violent vagrants in my peaceful little town?

Hollywood has been competing against itself for most unrealistic gun rights thinly veiled propaganda scene for a LONG TIME.

This one for me is pretty quintessential
"Tell me you have never bought a gun" scene

What democracy? Leonidas is a king.

Are you a Yarvin guy?

Apocalypto
super fun and visually intense
but super reductive of meso-american cultures

yea the true story is he was a king, and greek democracy was quite stilted and their economy was heavily slave based

but in the movie they are very heavy handed with the idea of democracy fighting against bending the knee
