In more recent years:

28 Days later.
The Decent
Dog Soldiers. (almost a comedy).

Older:

Original Texas Chainsaw.
Southern Comfort.
Deliverance.

Throwing in the trailer for Dog Soldiers:

The first American The Ring I thought was really well done when I first watched it.

I hadn't seen any of the Japanese stuff it got the idea from but man was the ambience, mood, lighting, music, Cinematography, everything was spooky as all hell

The descent was hella good when i first watched it

The original Halloween I usually watch in October that is pretty much it

I wish they would make a third one they left
the second with twist.
Well the new one, Rings is it? Sucked balls. And i think was unrelated to the first two. But honestly the second one wasn't needed. The first one was good without it.

The Thing

Halloween is one of my favorites, great movie.

I also really liked The Birds, it wasn't extremely scary and a lot of the visuals don't stand the test of time, but back when I was younger I was scared of it because there was 2 very big trees in my parents garden and they both had so many birds on them and I could see them every night in the tree, and it kept reminding me of the movie and I thought they will come and get me lol, so me and my sister used to always close the curtains shut.

Looking forward to spending Halloween with you. @HI SCOTT NEWMAN

Rosemary's Baby. Some might consider it boring, but it's a slow burn that leaves a scar.

The Conjuring, not an all time great, but it's pretty damn scary.

Gore, and violence to me don't equate horror. Horror has to actually be scary, like to the point of not sleeping after the movie, and that's really hard to find as an adult. The Witch tried, but back fired because I wanted to sleep during the movie. Hereditary was a bit better, but still I yawned enough times to be glad it ended. The last ten years I haven't found "the one" that's actually scares me.

That movie was awesome. Sleeping bag kill was hilarious.

Some of my favorites:

I'm surprised we even got this far without anyone mentioning EH yet.
