Would there be any added benefit from doing farmers walks with a weighted vest?

Baz

Why not do farmer's walks with farmer's walk handles?

If you can add a weight vest with no problem just add more weight to the handles...

i cant see why you would want to?

Weighted training equipment is a gimmick.

Weighted dips, push-ups, pull-ups, etc are hard to see as "gimmicky". Nothing wrong with wearing a weighted vest for certain workouts or exercise (although not running or similar activities, and even less so if your conditioning activity of choice is swimming).

Inb4 HoneyBadger don't care.

Because grip strength is the limiting factor. Would adding the extra weight via wv improve traps, posterior chain, shoulders, lats and legs quicker than without?

I said weighted training equipment. Like weighted vests, gloves, etc.

Nothing wrong with plopping a 100lb peanut between your ankles and pounding out some power dips.

What? That puts unnecessary strain on your ankles HoneyBadger. HoneyBadger don't care. Honeybadger don't give a shit.

The point of the exercise is the address all aspects of the exercise. If you wanted a stronger posterior chain do other posterior chain exercises that your grip can handle. Until then work on your grip... it's the weak link in your farmer's walk.

is to address*

Sorry, I can't edit my posts. They've put me on double yellow. So in case I wanted to go back and edit whatever I said that might have offended somebody, I can't now. Makes sense, right?

Making something more convenient, is in no way a gimmick lol. Hell, even if you just went on walks with a weightvest. That's a perfectly valid "excercise" right there IMO.

And putting on a weight vest is much easier than putting a weight between your ankles, and your ability to pinch your ankles together is by far going to be the limiting factor in that.

Seems like walking with weights/weight vest would be bad for joints and not give a lot of benefit to anything. I could be wrong though, never did it.
