I have a fantasy even today of learning martial arts that are not practical for self defense but cool to watch,

Martial arts that are feast to the eyes but if you apply in real life you'll get knockout or worse.

Here they are:

Kung Fu
- love doing the animal stance and moving and acting like an animal,
- especially the monkey jumping style that going bananas circling around and jumping on a tree.

Taekwondo
- flying kick, circling kick, tornado kick like there's no tomorrow.
- you will learn how to kick like in k-pop.

Aikido
- a grand pa routine that breaks a a wrist and finger,
- fighting without fighting, winning without fighting using their energy against them. Fluidity in motion.

Capoeira
- a dance art disguised as a dance makes you stand on your head and spin-a-rooney your way into violence.

Build the Pommel Horses! The chinese will pay for em.

I fucked up many a dude with my TKD. Punching and kicking is no myth.

It's a favorite mine to execute a leap frog attack on my opponents.

Whatever the Hell Master Roshi teaches Goku and Krillin.

Ninjas. Looking at martial arts movies in the 80's, I always felt ninjas were awesome.

Tried it in my late teens for or year, quickly became disillusioned.

I've got the "drunken" part down, but can't quite get the "boxing" part to work...

I don' know about praticality but, tkd
And capoeria look like a lot of fun.
I'm sure you have to be pretty athletic
To do both

Hokuto Shinken from Fist of the North Star and Mishima Fighting Karate from Tekken.

If I knew those 2 styles you sherdog trolls would have no choice but to respect me.

I don't think I ever saw anyone claim Savate after UFC 1.

I wish all those katas I've spent years memorizing were actually good for something in a fight. I like doing them, but come on. On a side note, I train with a guy who is 1st rank brown belt in aikido and 2 kyu in karate. When he catches a kick or grabs and arm, he can really hurt you (all I know is karate and some boxing). Of course, he is 6'4'' and weighs 230 pounds to my 6'2'' 176 pounds, but his grip strength is insane even compared to some of the other big guys I've trained with.
