Ouch. I feel bad four everyone involved in this project. Hopefully now the right go back to Marvel.

The paRT about no humor has me thinking it's great lol

this movie looked awkward and terrible. i dont like such a young cast. i actually liked the cast of the first movie but whatever. wont watch.

Cast age isn't too different overall aside from Chiklis.
Jordan is 28 vs Evans 24
Mara is 32 vs Alba 24
Teller is 28 vs Grufford 31
Bell is 29 vs Chiklis 41
Kebell is 33 vs McMahon 37

holy shit. i guess i just always picture jordan as the kid in FNL years ago, alba had been around prior to fantastic 4 while mara has been too (I guess she was my highpoint of this film). since teller was in that divergent series i imagine him as being low 20s like the star of those movies. and yeah, the thing is obviously younger. i will say, that cast just looked older though. or maybe i'm misremembering and thinking of them as their older selves.

Makes me sad cause FF4 has such potential in the marvel side but it just keeps getting worse and worse movie adaptions

I think the Incredibles are definitely easier to write as a movie because they're an actual family dealing with "regular" family stuff while also dealing with villains. The FF are a kind of pretend family. It's tough to write that kind chemistry into a stand alone movie.
Where the FF shine above all but the X-Men, Spiderman, and Batman is dat rogue gallery and affiliated heroes (Doom, Galactus, Skrulls, Uatu, Negative Zone, Annhilius, Blastaar, Mole Man, Namor, Inhumans, etc, etc).

Imo, the way to do a FF movie is to deal with the origin in a simple flashback while presenting the team as an established adventure team of close knit friends and family (Sue/Johnny). You can't go dark with them and you can't go realistic with them. They have to be in space or at the center of the earth, and fighting monsters and robots.

They'd probably do best on TV, only the FX budget would be fucking astronomical.

Josh Trank was originally going to direct the New Star Wars movie before backing out to do this film. Looking at this movie Star Wars fans might have just dodged Apache Hellfire.

not quite true.
trank was removed from sw because disney heard some things about his behavior on the f4 set

If that's true, then his career is done after fucking up with TWO major film franchises

Where had you gotten the idea that he'd chosen to leave Star Wars in order to work on F4?

I thought the original story said he left because the F4 project went on too long, then again they were probably covering up for what was really going on behind closed doors and on set

Who says?

I mean, unless Fox sells the rights back to Marvel or does some kind of joint venture like the next Spider-Man film... but the fact that they were trying to push their own cinematic universe tells me this isn't very likely. Maybe after this fiasco, but who knows.

Minor nitpick: Trank was supposed to direct a Star Wars spin-off film (like the one with a young Han Solo), not one of the major films (VII, VIII, IX).

The problem is they look way younger than they are.

You're comparing apples and oranges. Sony had had huge success with Spider-Man. When has Fox ever produced a successful Fantastic Four film? They've tried three times with them and they've failed three times. I honestly cannot understand anyone who thinks there's even a possibility Fox might want to hold on to the F4. That'd be like holding on to a boiling hot pot of tea with bare hands. The days of Fox being in charge of the F4 are done.

I'm not comparing Spider-Man to F4, I simply said Fox might do something similar (let Marvel in the project but not give it away completely), even though I don't think they will.

Also the first two films weren't failures when it came to making money, specially the first one. Nowadays it's all about the international markets (China and so on), as long as this piece of shit does well overseas they could still overlook a domestic underperformance.

No one ever said he was doing one of the major films.

Just throwing it out there.

I think you're being too pessimistic. Relax.

Well this film nearly broke my soul so yeah, perhaps.

I seriously considered walking out when they showed that "it's clobberin time" was what Ben's abusive brother used to say before beating him.

So was the Human Torch's slogan "Flame on!" what his dad shouted announcing he's coming out of the closet?
