The girl has been wanting that belt for soooo long--SO LONG!--and now its hers. She's always been the type of fighter who gives it her all, win or lose, and there never have been many girls who could beat her. But those at the very top of her division have been hard for her to put down.

But she never gave up, and just kept moving forward, and finally she's champ.

Whether you're a fan or not--and I really am not a huge fan--you have to be happy for her and give the girl a round of applause.
 
It was an awesome win. She needed a finish and she had nothing for Holly on the feet, but she wasn't desperately spamming takedowns in there. She stayed collected and picked her spot, and made the most of it. It was incredible to watch, she's a true champ. I hope she can actually beat Ronda this time around.

That 5th rnd was great. I was impressed by her conditioning and shot choice. Holly is great at shutting down the TD but Miesha's did an awesome job at making it count once she got her down. Very happy for her. I feel like the division is a but opened up bc Miesha's seems beatable but somehow wins each time.
 
Miesha turns every fight into a Rocky fight.
 
I'm more sad ronda gets to be champion again. I don't want to hear her narcissistic, disillusioned drivel again.
 
I usually rooted for Miesha because I liked her better than her opponent, but I am becoming a fan :)

As a fighter, not personality-wise, she reminds me of Forrest Griffin.

Im not happy for her because she is as dumb as a fukkin rock whenever she fights Ronda. Guaranteed she will lose her belt in her next fight to Ronda after she tries to take Ronda down and gets armbarred.

It was an amazing ending. It reminded me of Silva/Sonnen I. With only a minute and a half left in a 25 minute fight, 90 seconds away from a decision she almost certainly wasn't going to win, she found a way to get the finish. Just fucking awesome.

As for the division, I'd say Holly knocked the lock off the door when she beat Ronda, and now Miesha has swung it wide open.
 
I've never been a fan of hers (she's from Tacoma, am massive Ronda fan) but you gotta hand it to her. She never gave up and after 23 minutes of the most exhausting activity you can do she clamped onto that RNC with every ounce of strength she had. The slowmo replay of her practically screaming as she squeezed was a thing of MMA beauty. Hat's off.

I'd still like to see Rousey rematch Holm and avenge her loss before taking on a much easier stylistic fight against someone she's already armbarred twice.

Are you saying it's immature to be happy for Miesha winning the belt after so many years of trying? If so, that pretty much makes you a dick.
 
Not a Miesha fan by any means but her winning last night felt pretty satisfying. She has earned it, no doubt.

I don't like Meisha but she deserved to win. Holly didn't deserve the title. She leap frogged everyone to get her shot and got lucky to catch Ronda on an off night. Meisha on the other hand has been consistently at the top of the rankings.

This was my first thought as well, but you know Dana and Co are going to fast track Ronda to a title shot. There's no way she has to go through Holm to get there, even though that's what makes all the sense in the world.
 
I mean she was 2mins away from losing a decision and that would've moved her to no man's land in terms of her being a title contender. That choke and takedown was the epitome of going for broke and it paid off, good for her, that moment is the culmination of all her hard work and perseverance. That said Id take Holly in a rematch lol.
