Sometimes man's best friend is much more than than a friend. Sometimes he's also a gaurdian angel like this German Shepherd. This dog probably saved the life of his buddy, this little girl. Hopefully this dog pulls through. War Haus.

Heh, "guardian angel"? More like "convenient shield." Not to be mean but I don't think the dog was thinking "I must fight this thing to the death to protect the precious child!" More like "small animal! I'm gonna fight this thing" and it was a bad fight to pick.

On another note, if rattlesnakes are nonchalantly slithering into backyards, it's time to stay inside all summer lol

Youre wrong. Dogs absolutely have protective instincts for their family. Especially a dog like a german shepherd. My dad use to have a pair of akitas before I was born and he told me how whenever he took them camping they would lay down at exact opposite ends of the camp site facing outwards effectively establishing a perimeter and standing guard.

Dogs have been acting as guardians for humans for thousands of years. Its in their DNA. Not sure why you think dogs dont have protective instincts.

Dogs are awesome, unconditional love right there. I hope he survives.

You don't know what you are talking about.

Because I've been around some dogs as well and I've seen how they will bark and try to engage basically any smaller animal. I never said they didn't have protective instincts but let's not think this dog was acting like Superman. Whether it's a snake coiled to strike or a harmless squirrel passing by, the dog would have went after it

Its just nature, wolves have protective instincts toward the pups in their pack. Near their den they wont back away even from a grizzly.

Dogs view kids as one of their own and will fight to protect them. There's no magic to it just natural instincts.

I hope he makes it and yes they have been breed to protect their family (pack) for a long time and there are many examples of this over and over.

YAhh i'm sure this dogo was thinking ahh look at that Puma so small and easy to kill.

The fact that you think something will love unconditionally shows you don't know what you're talking about

You really think dogs won't fight to death for their loved one's? You are making zero sense here. You need to learn more about dogs before spouting off garbage.

He is just an idiot who has no knowledge regarding dogs and just giving his worthless opinion.

I said unconditional love is nonsense. How did that sound like they won't fight to the death?

I doubt the dog would see a rattlesnake in the same way it sees a puma. It's not like the dog knows a rattlesnake has venom.

dogs love us dude... its a fact

we really dont deserve them tbh...theyre so friggin great

It doesn't know it has venom but it's instincts tell it that it is something bad so it reacts to protect.

And this kind of weird thinking is why dog lovers aren't taken seriously. LOL at not deserving a simple-minded animal with tunnel vision
