In this case as we agree that law enforcement abusing people's rights is wrong we must also agree that people should follow our laws.

As we point the finger and want to get rid of cops we must also point the finger and remove the criminals. As both sides blame the other for supporting the "wrong" side.

Anyone who wants a society without cops deserves a society without cops. As a lefty I’d love to see stuff taken off of cops plates and put onto social workers, mental health professionals, addiction specialists. We ask too much of patrolmen. On any given night they’re taking reports for stolen property, responding to DV call, doing a wellness check, pulling over drunk drivers, responding to fights or shootings, handling skitzo barking at traffic, trespassing drunks, on and on it goes. If the issue isn’t violent and doesn’t represent a reasonable chance to turn that way then send someone else. There are non profits out there that send trained counselors out with cops to take point on calls where it makes sense. Hugely successful for everyone.

We paint with a broad brush, as we acknowledge that there only a small percentage of violent illegals we also must recognize only a small percentage of bad cops out there.

I'm sure they deported some, I'm sure there was cooperation and I'm sure they used the cages too. I just find it hard to believe people can't see their own hypocrisy when it's so obvious. I have had extensive problems with police. They can destroy your life if they want to. But I find myself defending a lot of them because I've been helped by them and seen them help others. It is a difficult job, and they are ordered to do things they don't want to do some times.

I deserved probably 75% of the trouble I got in. I also got away with a lot. The detective borough in my town had pictures of me and my friends on the wall. We were considered a gang in 3 towns, that I know of. Luck I grew up before camera and cell phone proliferation
