Where was all this hostile protest when the ufc booked him for fights over and over? When he was booked against glover, stipe, or rampage?

Fedor haters just love bashing the guy and his opponents. Forgetting fedor is past his prime and he knows it too. Why would he fight an overeem or stipe right now? He doesn't need the money, the ufc or the damage from such fights!

First Jaideep, now Maldonado...

You can say what you want, but Fabio isn't just a fighter... his record isn't that bad...
Besides that... Fedor was out for years... You cannot expect him to fight the best right away...
And as come forward in several interviews, he starts with rather "easy" fights, before getting a real test on where he's at.

Jaideep > simple
Maldonado > medium

I think UFC would be next... maybe UFC200, but that's a little to soon I guess since that's in july... but I wouldn't be suprised...

I'm not gonna bash Maldonado but the issue is at this rate if he is ever going to fight a big name and make a substantial comeback it's going to take 10-15 fights at this pace, which he doesn't have left, I would imagine? From what I've read this whole comeback is just a way for him to lend exposure to the other fighters fighting on the card. He's also a sort of national hero so the fight being in Russia is probably a big plus for him. As a Fedor fan I am not really all that concerned with his strength of opposition, I'd rather see him win a few more and ride off into the sunset.

If you enjoy watching your favorite fighter beating over-matched opponents that have little chance of beating him, that's OK.

I personally would be furious if JDS was matched up with Maldonado, because I don't like watching my favorite fighter waste his time with easy match-ups.

I doubt Fedor had much to say about who he fights next.

How old is jds? And is his prime well past him?

Different fighters and completely different situations! Fedor can not and will not attempt to be the undisputed heavy weight champion any time in the future. He is using his name to promote an event, mama and his peers that's all.

One was considered the best of the best and the other is Maldonado.

He can't face TOPs anymore but there's a middle ground, you know? Fabio can be fun to watch but has very limited skills. I loved watching Fedor and was a huge fan but I consider this kind of fight embarrassing and unnecessary, I can't be happy with it. He's not even fighting a guy from his own weight class. Again. And that's the other thing that always bothered me about Fedor, this freaking lack of respect for his own career and name. He will fight his grandmother if they pay him. FFS!

we're no longer surprised when Fedor has a fight against someone considered to be less than a challenge anymore.

Fedor dont give a fuck who he fights, hes got nothing to prove and is happy collecting fat cheques.

If Fedor's that old and that past his prime that he can't be bothered fighting legit Heavyweights, why bother watching him fight at all? For nostalgia?

Mark Hunt is three years older than Fedor, but he's still fighting legit competition.

The UFC HW division is so weak Fedor could still be a contender if he wanted.

You say yourself he doesn't need money so why does he fight in Rizin? There are 2 reasons for him to fight either to fight the best which would be in the UFC or money which would be Rizin.

Fabio is a UFC level fighter.

i don't know what these fuckwit mma 'fans' expect. A 40 year old guy who wasn't on top for a decade and has been retired for years is gonna suddenly come back and fight Cain/Werdum right away? So he can get smashed and you can say 'well, he wasn't ever that good then'?? Fabio was in the UFC top 10/15 in his division not that long ago. Funny but true. Yeah this fight will be one sided but if you expected a serious run from Fedor at his age, you're not paying attention, or dumb, or both.
Don't worry, I'm sure he'll face someone better within the next 12 months, not do great, and then you can bash a 40 yr old guy for being 'overrated all along' as you wish.

We've already seen what Glover and Stipe did to Fabio. Maybe he's a step up from Singh, but not much of a step. And Fabio really has no business fighting a HW after the Stipe fight.

So much this. Seems with the nuthuggers it is either top5 HWs or bottom 100 cans, no middle ground at all with them. Blagoi, Bedorf, Volkov, Sergei, Erokhin, Johnson, Kongo... there are good legit HWs for Fedor that aren't cans but still not top5. And if we are going to entertain the idea of a LHW fighting Fedor, why not ones that people have actually talked about like Rampage, Wanderlei, or King Mo?

I'd prefer better fights taking into account its Fedor we are talking about.
Also he is old and doesn't have many fights left, his goal is Werdum goddamit

Of course they didn't. The didn't complain about Miocic fighting him 4 fights ago or Rampage fighting him in his last fight, both in the ufc. They hate Fedor, they complain no matter who he fights or beats. They have always been this way. I heard for years how Tim Sylvia was too big for Fedor, too tough, then Fedor beats him in 36 seconds and they come back saying Tim was overrated and never that good. Fedor doesn't fight for these liars, who cares what they think?

Fedor even said when he came back that he wanted some warm up fights first to see how he feels before moving up in competition...they ignore that and jump to his comments about fighting the best. They see and hear what they want, they are cult members.
