Time Warner cable, and Comcast have an informal agreement to stay out of each other's biggest markets.a question I have about this...
if companies then choose to throttle their speeds, or charge more for certain services or whatever....
why wouldn't competition still apply? would not the company that doesn't resort to those things intice more customers?
you know, like the cell phone market and the unlimited plans? Verizon doesn't have the total dominance it used to.....
edit: I realize that if you live in a rural locale (as I do) that you could be screwed either way due to lack of competition already
Trump is a dumbfuck whore. Just a slutty little prostitute selling his gaping butthole.
oh I'm not arguing FOR it, i'm just wondering if it will be as BAD as others are implying
that's all
I live in the middle of nowhere, w/ 1 internet provider (well for cable, we have one for DSL for the satellite people too) which is TWC/Spectrum. As of now, their services are great, so I hope it doesn't change

while true....Time Warner cable, and Comcast have an informal agreement to stay out of each other's biggest markets.
crazy, ours was the oppositeI had TWC before they were bought out by Spectrum. When I move (which is soon) I am going to have to change my internet plan since the one I currently have is no longer offered. Once Spectrum bought out TWC they stopped offering the 200mbps package. I'll now have to buy a internet package that's half as fast but nearly the same price. This will not get better with Net Neutrality gone.
Completely irrelevant. Why even bring that up? Just so you can continue to argue?while true....
they also paid a record sum for any cable company for the local broadcasting rights for Lakers games (180M+ per year), a huge mistake given how the ratings and things w/ ESPN/NBATv/TNT are going. They're going to have to recoup that money somehow
No big deal just unelected officials with conflicts of interest changing major laws against the will of 80% of the country
So do say the shoes in the oft cited Business Performance Game, yet if you offer cheaper rates (despite perhaps not being able to acquire cheaper materials or labor due to lower scale of production) for your products your share of the market will generally increase inherently. Even moreso, if you aren't adding tiered rates or throttling speeds effecting the overall quality and consistency of the product. Granted, this is assuming you aren't offering such a discount as to operate at a lossConsidering ISPs still operate in an economy of scale, I would say traditional theories of competition don't apply.
lolBoy, that swamp sure is draining
Boy, America is great again
uh what? how did you possibly construe that.....Completely irrelevant. Why even bring that up? Just so you can continue to argue?
crazy, ours was the opposite
we have no fiber optic lines laid up here yet in the Mojave Desert, so TWC topped at 50MBPS....they're adding them now, so the lowest/base internet offered by Specturm is somehow faster at 70mbps
Between this and the tax bill, you just got BTFO!!! Maybe they'll charge libraries more for their access so they can control information better.Sigh
