16 Nominations is totally unrealistic but the voting pool has got bigger and some of the rules have changed so it won't be a great surprise if it wins most categories. Would that be warranted? Hell no!
However given the circumstances and the other nominations, why would it be a surprise?

Why do we need a whole other thread for this? It's going to go exactly like the other one.

Thrilled to see a movie about black life in the Mississippi Delta long ago making a dent. This is something I come in contact with dailey because of the music. I get it;s more than just that however.

I look forward to the day after the big fancy pants awards gala spectacular when all the same usual chatterboxes, the ones that always pop into every awards show thread to talk about how they dont care about awards shows, are in here whining, crying and pissing their pants because those people won an award

I watched it but wasn't that thrilled. Haven't seen many new movies for a while so it might win a lot of categories but I don't think it's a classic film.

that movie sucked. the first scene with hailey stienfeld and the ridiculous twerking history scene were laughable.

The impact them old Delta blues had on what came later is immense. And a lot aren't aware of that.

Ishman Bracey sings.....rock church rock....talking pre 1930.
The music might have been the best feature of the film. This opinion from a guy that has Robert Johnson on cassettes...

i have that tape, he;s sitting in a chair, right?

I also have all that old stuff which started in 1926 with a cat named Freddie Spruell, while not the best he was the first. Yep, Robert Johnson was the best.

Oscars?
