I'm attempting to get some work for my freelance web design friends, and a possible prospect for them is a jiu jitsu school website. Can anyone here provide links to school websites that you feel is a prime example of great minimalist design, content, and overall look? IOW:

- very little flash
- clean, easy to follow layouts
- content is great promotion for school without too much "infomercial" student accounts (ex. I lost 200lb. by doing BJJ!)
- decent amount of media - pictures, links to videos or videos embedded in site
- anything else you feel catches the eyes of prospective and veteran grapplers

Thanks!

Champions Way does a lot of martial arts websites they are the one that did Marcus Soares' site listed above, they do the Gracies in Torrance site as well as our site; Buffalo Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy. They have a great set-up (for them) where they charge nothing to build the site, but force you to use them for hosting (at a premium) for a minimum of 12 months. You also don't own your site, so if you choose to host elsewhere you have to have a new site built. However, with no upfront cost, clean layouts, relatively templated designs and easy to use software that allows users to make changes to their own site, they definitely have a good thing going and would be a good business model for your friends to look into.

That will be 10% of your friend's future earnings please... I take cash.

This is our website. It shows the events we support, gives student recognition, and all the basic info someone would need about our affiliations and school itself. It is not overall flashy like some of the other ones you see out there, because I didn't see the need to have it professionally built.
