Could he stopped it a bit earlier?

Sure, but it’s not like she was out n he let it go on

She was constantly moving n trying to improve her position, while Val didn’t really try to finish the fight. She would just land couple of good strikes n them control her opponent

If he stepped in earlier some ppl would complain about early stoppage

(Remember chiesa vs lee)

we've all seen a lot worse many times.
if anything, her corner should be jailed.

Full contact Hop-Scotch is the way of the future.

MMA/boxing should be banned in general. People punching each other, thereby killing them slowly or at least taking several years from their expected lifespan.

It's just not right.

ufc is to blame

He's proven time and again that he is a terrible ref, so he deserves it. Actually he deserves to be fired, but it doesn't look like that'll ever happen.

I'm just pissed over his hand heart gesture before every fight. How does he not realize that it's the gayer than aids?

this was not his first time, nor the second time.

Why are people taking up for Yamasaki is the better question.

Yea the corner and matchmakers shouldve prevented it but the primary responsibility of the ref is fighter safety... stop deflecting blame

i basically agree with this. the girl who lost was still moving around, and mentally appeared to still be in the fight. it could have been stopped earlier, that's for sure. but valentina beating her down viciously was due to her opponent not realizing how inferior she was to valentina.

It really is the dumbest shit ever that everyone is whining about it just because Dana cried because it was a girl. He never would have said shit if that was a guy.

Mario should issue a statement about this. We've heard so many people's points of view on the matter, but not his. I'd also like to hear Cachoeira's take on it, and her team's.

They should just pixelate the blood in WMMA fights if people are that sensitive about it.

Mario can't catch a break. He stops the Chiesa fight early and people give him shit, he lets the Valentina fight continue and he get's racked through the coals.

Being a ref fucking sucks.

He could have stopped it at any point in this sequence after she rolls to give up her back and gets flattened out, imo. That's when I was screaming at the screen that the fight was over, but it was too late when I realized Mario doesn't understand Vulcanian.

UFC matches a former title contender against a former crack addicted who never fought a single big name and Mario is the one to blame?

There were about 100 unanswered strikes, and she had to tap out multiple times.

Fault is with the ref, but at the same time, what were the matchmakers thinking??
