1) Loses to a short notice Nate
2) Retires to play touchbutt (This could be more of Dana and Conor playing touchbutt than retirement)

2016 does seem to be his year ! I totally bought his hype (his mental toughness, mind games, unbending confidence, and his qoutes: god recognizes god etc). Turns out to be a quiter !

People like you need to go away.

This is a business problem, nothing more or less. Conor is taking a business stance for what's best for his well being. He's probably got plenty of money at this point and doesn't have an immediate need for more, so he can play hardball with the UFC, like he is.

Conor owes you shit. Hating on him for this is pretty petty.

McGregor said he would retire from the sport when it wasn't fun anymore. He didn't want to do the world tour, and Dana made it clear that he had to do it or be removed from the card, so McGregor chose the latter. I don't think it was a money squabble.

Conor demanding more after a loss is petty. He should stick to his word more often and maybe the backlash won't happen.

If Conor is trying to play hardball with Zuffa he is going to be severely disappointed. There is no way that Zuffa blinks first. They will let him sit at home and rot.

The contract is signed, these things are probably airtight. You can't sign one and complain after signing. The contract probably states a huge amount and a promotional tour, no discussions. UFC could probably sue Conor if they wanted. All these assumptions on the board are assumptions. So is mine, but I really don't see how this could be a money issue. I really think it might be a motivation issue, mind you, he's been working 24-7 since Aldo 1 was announced.

By the many threads being made, I'd say Conor did his job.

I hope you have someone making your business decisions for you, because what you just said is fucking idiotic.

Who cares if he won or lost. How did Conor's individual value go down at all? He's headlining a MASSIVE UFC card in a rematch. He's going to be the highest paid fighter on that card. He's the main attraction of the card.

Conor, regardless to his loss to Nate, is still the UFC's number one asset as far as fighters go. His value didn't change one bit.

Conor know's this better than anyone. He did what he believed made most business sense. Get every dollar he thought his services were worth. He didn't get what he wanted, so he retired. And guess what? This move has brought massive amounts of media attention, with Dana White addressing the situation multiple times within 24 hours, even inviting him to change his mine. And all Conor did was post a Tweet.

I mean for fucks sakes man. It's no different than leaving a job because you think your value is greater than the pay. It happens everyday. Bitching and moaning or saying the shit your saying is just pointless hate. Pull that righteous stick out of your ass.

Like every fighter with Zuffa, he probably has a multi-fight contract. He acts like he has to renegotiate after every fight. That's not how it works. That's the point of signing a multi-fight contract, so they can lock you in. The UFC has humored him until now because he kept winning and his star was rising, but now he lost and he still thinks he can renegotiate? Nah.

You're acting like the UFC is punishing him or something.

The UFC clearly wants him back. Dana White, the person most likely to lash out, has said nothing bad in the slightest about this. He's now even offered to make it all right if Conor comes back. No other fighter, save for Ronda and maybe Jones, could pull that shit. They'd get cut or severely punished.

If this is about the money, all the UFC did was refuse his demands. They are still paying more than they did last time one way or another. They just aren't willing to pay him the disclosed purse he wants. And you're right about the contract, except when you're as hot of a commodity as Conor is to the UFC.

At the end of the day, Conor has the leverage. He has made more money that most will in their lives. He has other options to generate significant money, at the very least for a few more years. He's got the belt. And he realizes he's the biggest UFC star, bar none.

At a personal level, he has no need for the UFC. Who cares if he lost? It's a non-factor. His value to the UFC didn't change at all. Conor is smart enough to realize that.
