Ever had your dream(s) crushed?

Heavily recruited by D1 schools. Got very sick my senior year but kept playing. Ended up at a D1a school and quit after 2 years. I should have walked on somewhere. Pretty much went into self destructive after that

That sucks bro, Try to find some happiness within. As bad as it may seem there are people in far worse condition / lifes. Also it might help volonteering or helping others I need. Maybey start a Buisness or go back to school.

I worked out with two guys who were pro level. The first was a prodigy who got burnt out at 19 but then picked it back up at 21. His first tournament back he beat the #810 in the world 6-1 6-0.

He could have been in the top #100 but he just burnt out again.

The hardware isn't all that different between someone who's like 20 in the world and 1000 in the world, and most people could watch them hit and not even guess which one is better. I actually didn't even go all in and was working while playing and just traveled to a handful of tourneys a year, so it wasn't really that rough for me, but trying to make a full-time living when 1 bad match costs you serious money is rough. It's easier for guys in some countries cause Europe has club teams that pay salaries, and a lot of guys get sponsors to cover the expenses, but for Americans it's usually guys from rich families who can afford to make a real go of it.

I know exactly what you mean. People who would watch me workout thought I was pro lol.

Pros can do it all the time, even under pressure and make it look easy. That's the difference.

Regarding Europe, I had a friend who was on a team in Germany. The fastest dude on court I'd ever played. He would use my power against me and his slice ultimately was the shot he'd use to beat me. Just wore me down.

Good stuff my man.

Actually, all of the research shows that hard work and deliberate practice are much more important, and take you further, than natural talent. I’m sure luck is a huge part of the equation as well. The caveat being, this research is for all endeavors - music, art, sports, etc. If it were done for only sports, they may find that natural athletic ability is a bigger factor.

Yea, that's what came to mind for me too. I always wanted to get old and be in one of those 60+ year relationships, like the couples in When Harry Met Sally.

There's a lot of freedom that comes with being single at my age, but I'm still bitter about that possibility being snuffed out.

Besides that I've never really had big plans.
 
dude get your ass to work like the rest of us. u can still train mma but for the most part, being a fighter takes more than just dedication, alot more.
