Ever been dropped by a body shot?

on a different note, in my last MMA bout i went against a boxer from some reality show in 2005. 12-15 minutes into the match, i was exhausted, and he hit me with a straight to the gut. it hurt, and although it didn't stop my advances, i was pretty sure something came out downstairs. i lost the match as i was already spraying blood everywhere and the cute doctor stopped the fight a few minutes later. (i guess she just couldn't handle watching me get hit any more.) immediately after the stoppage, i jumped out the ring and ran to the bathroom faster than Forrest Griffin did after fighting Anderson Silva. let's just say whoever cleaned that up had one hell of a long night. i fucked that shit up.

lol Machete, this Fight's for you:

First of all, it's an EXCELLENT Fight between two World Class guys, second of all the reason it's stopped? Let's just say: shit happens.

Having a fairly strong core i would always feel safe letting people bang away at my body. That was until the day i sparred one Nathan 'Carnage' Corbett, after his knuckles left a nice little imprint on my liver i decided from that moment onwards to start covering those pleasant little shots!

Ive been caught with some wicked straight rights to the chest, as im a Southpaw
Next southpaw I spar, I'm throwing right crosses to the chest.
Guess I'll see how I go.

I've only been dropped by body shots, and imo it's much worse than head shots. Head shot pain I can deal with. But when I get the wind knocked out, I can't breath, can't even stand up. Up to this day, my biggest fear is still body shots, especially to my right side.

tock a straight right to the solarplexs... so far in about 6 months of sparing its the only time Ive stopped sparing in the middle of a round. It felt like i was in a video game and my health bar went from 80% all the way to -10%

Jaysis Begorrah!

I've said it before and I'll say it again, white shorts are a bad idea.

First body shot that dropped me was when I was 14 and sparring with a 16 year old girl at my karate do jo (note - this was semi contact karate only - you know, the family friendly stuff)

I went in for a jab and she retreated into a reverse side kick right into my solar plexus just as our time was up. I stood there for like 2 secs smiling, clinging onto my pride with every muscle in my body before I dropped to the floor in pain.

Not yet but I've dropped someone with one before. I'm defiantly not looking forward to my turn.

Didn't drop but had to call timeout after a front kick with the ball of the foot to the solar plexus. Aside from the groin and eyes, this is my least favorite spot to get hit.

If you haven't been dropped by a body shot, you haven't trained hard enough, with enough people. A good body shot will make your toes curl.

Boza still gets razzed about that to this day. He's a trainer here in Vegas, and every time he gets upset about something some old school cat goes "calm down Boza, before you shit your pants."

Dude, when did you move to Vegas?

About 3 years ago, where the Hell you been?

I had a training log that documented the whole thing, look it up. Haven't kept it up for the past couple months because I have too much on my plate at the moment, but I'm told it's a pretty good read.

I got the wind knocked out of me by my opponent landing a defensive back kick to the solar plexus in a Taekwondo Tournament back in 1999.

Been put down twice and both times they were a result of a body shot. first time back in my Navy days I was sparring my Thai instructor (this dude was huge) and all was going well then all of a sudden I felt the sharpest pain EVER in my gut. He front kicked me so hard with the ball of his foot I swear his big toe touched my spine. It was five seconds of incredible pain then nothing at all. The second time I'm out the navy and back in my old gym sparring one of the older vets of the gym preparing for a fight. Now I love sparring this guy because if I get the best of him in a previous session, the same thing will never work again. I had worked him with my reach the previous session, so this time he was front kicking me on punches to jam my progress. All I remember is I was going in with a 1, 2 and on the right straight he smashed me with a front kick with the ball of the foot right on my solar plex. I crumbled like a school girl in front of Nsync. Massive pain for 5 seconds again then nothing once more. All that being said, I love giving body shots. There a big part of my game, but I hate taking the damn things.

The only time I've been legitimately dropped (I've been dropped by head kick once or twice but not during legit sparring/fighting, just accidents) was from a wicked body shot.

Every belt test i get dropped a couple of times.

last time i had to fight for 20 minutes, and your abs dont give a shit that u want them to contract after a while. So every liver shot just drops you.

I've had to go down on a knee in what was around 50% power sparring.

I'm sure well conditioned athletes get better chins (stronger necks, better cardio etc.) but the difference must be must larger when it comes to the body. We regular hobbyists will go down very easily from body punches.
