First man to beat Anderson Silva in the UFC... thats big.

yeah but he got destroyed by rockhold, i dont think he'd want to retire on a loss.

Sure he gets injured a lot, but not as much as most. He aint retiring yet...

I don't think he's going anywhere just yet. He has things he wants to try and prove, and still plenty of time left.

In reality, every fighter has a puncher's chance, even against Anderson. The thing about Anderson is he would open up like a doofus and allow you to throw your shots at him. It's remarkable that he still fucked people up for 7 years straight doing that, and in devastating fashion. Best there's ever been, for sure.

Of course… But then Anderson looked garbage against a WW and Bisping beat him, and we realised despite Weidman's wins being a huge achievement, his defences were against fighters well past their prime.

Unfortunately both wins will always be tainted and (sad though it will be for Weidman) will not go down in UFC legacy as legitimate wins in the eyes of the fans

Anderson's legacy will be far bigger than those 2 losses is my point

a win over anderson will always be a big thing... hes one of the goats.

Of course it's big. It still doesn't change the fact that it was against a vastly declined version of said fighter. Kind of like beating Shogun now… Doesn't hold as much weight.

Lol what was tainted about the first fight? Anderson's legacy went to shit after he got popped for roids.

Weidman is still a very good fighter that likely has years left in the game.

That said it's also a bit of a cautionary tale for fans and looking too far into the future. A large following on here were convinced he was going to clean out MW and then move up to give Jones his toughest fight.

Of course. Anderson had the most remarkable run in UFC history.

Why would Weidman's wins over Anderson be tainted? Anderson is the one that got caught the first time that he was given a random test.

yup he ended Silva reign which is nothing to scoff at. He will go down eternally as a spoiler who never lived up to the hype surrounding him after dethroning silva. good enough to beat a great fighter but not good enough to become great himself. He did have some awesome fights with Machida and Belfort tho. I hope he's able to come back tbh and I've never been a fan of the guy. Would suck to see a talented dood like that go out because of injury.
