News ESPN Raising Price of UFC PPVs and ESPN Plus in 2021

I have a rule that I don’t buy a PPV unless there is a title fight and at least two other fights I care about. The last card I ordered was UFC 254. I wanted to see Khabib, Volkov, Whittaker and Cutelaba fight.

I’ll watch the ESPN+ cards, but there’s no way I’m paying for UFC 257. Connor v. Porier and a bunch of WMMA fights aren’t going to part me from $70.

lmao that last part is gold
Thank you. The prices are getting insane. Im not even american but its crazy how they try to rob the people that buy most of the ppvs. With 70 bucks i could go watch a movie and get a 2 month gym membership. Thats just crazy money for 3 hours of a day. Some people dont even make 70 bucks in 3 hours.

I'm sure they've crunched the numbers, but this seems so stupid to me.

70 bucks American is too much to watch a sports event. Given covid restrictions on having people come to your house, you can't even split such a ridiculous cost with other people.

I guess it's just a mathematical formula. If they were to slash the cost of a ppv, a lot of us could afford to buy kt instead of streaming it and paying 0. But there must be a huge chunk of people who will always buy the paperviews no matter what. As I say, they must have crunched the numbers and they must figure to make way more money this way.

Maybe I'm wrong about lowered cost ppv bringing in legitimate buys. Maybe the majority of viewers wouldn't even pay 10 bucks, so they figure might as well milk all they can from those who refuse to watch illegal streams.

Is the crack website still down? Maybe this is all part of the plan. I couldn't believe how easy it's gotten to find a high quality stream - just googling would tske you to crack streams. But is it gone? Is there an alternative?

yeah but going to the gym is hard work... time to eat hohos and sit on my couch and watch prime physicals specimens try and kill each other on ppv

I am not going to buy 257, 258, or 259 for that price.

These hikes are getting ridiculous. I am not saying I will never buy again but I will definitely buy less and it is going to mean less money from me overall.

70 bucks, I should get multiple mens championship bouts.

I wouldn’t buy those 3 ppvs together for $70

WTF?? PPV are becoming only for rich people or watch parties where everybody chips in. Unfortunately, I don't know many people that watch UFC and I'm not rich so I guess I'm fucked.

Who gives a shit about mma nowadays...

a million cards with mediocre fighters from Dana’s Tuesday night brawls in the state of the art ufc plex paid by CTE from the last fighting generation.

Remember when UFC actually had stacked cards? Instead of this waterson vs Angela hill fight night bs?

I mean not really you can work out at your pace and pretty much go as much as you like. If you want results your gonna have to try a little harder but doing something is better than doing nothing. Just going to the gym 3 times a week and doing a little work will make you healthier but as said to lose weight or build muscle your gonna put in more effort. So basically you can work out 2 months with minimal effort and have done something for yourself plus catched a movie for the same price as a UFC event. Also stop eating hohos that shit is pure poison.

It was pushing it to split the cost with my brother at $65. I liked the reliability and good quality of the official stream and am fortunate enough to be able to afford it. But this is downright greedy and now they’ll get $0 from us just based on principle. A few hours of entertainment is not worth $70, you can go to some sporting events live for that cost.
Can or could?

70 bucks a ppv? No thanks, I'd rather spend that much on OnlyFans. At least the fighters get more money that way.

Blame Mitch McConnell.
Oh well. I’ve worked during this whole pandemic while people I’ve known were being massively overpaid in unemployment throughout the summer and will begin to get paid more than they earn again shortly. I know this has financially crippled some, but to not be working since March for some is absurd. Work a job ,”beneath you,” if necessary to eat/survive. That being said, raising PPV prices when we aren’t supposed to gather, and can’t watch it at bars to alleviate costs is ridiculous.

I assumed that nearly everyone on here uses streams and mostly it's only bars and a few non tech people who actually pay for the PPV?

I dont know, maybe you fall on your keyboard and unwillingly land on a stream site, who could blame you? Happend to me a cuppa times.

My "keyboard" is downright Possessed!
it has been for 30 Years, making me pay for nothing!!
I replace it, but the "DeMoN" just transfers to the new one.
My Mother in-law wanted to get an Exorcist, to clean and rid our house of DeMoNs, but she met with an suspicious and unfortunate accident, and now does not visit us.

I have learned to leave things well enough alone.
I may live with a dEmOn in my keyboard,....but i'm not stupid!!!
:(

The smartest move ESPN and the UFC can possibly make is by making every UFC included in a $20/month subscription app, and perhaps $30 for HD.

I'd pay that, rather than streaming it.

I don't like streaming but I do it because the PPV prices are stupidly insane. We're in the middle of a pandemic with tens of millions are unemployed, struggling to pay their bills, and ESPN's response to this is "Time to raise prices!"

Wow. Such fucking idiots.
